Don’t like seeing graphic design on here. My kid is working on a degree now. It does look like the underemployment in graphic design is lower than the average across all degree fields though.

Notice you don’t see plumbers and electricians on the list.
The list is of people with college degrees. I get your point but don’t know many plumbers or electricians with College degrees.

Of course, the teaching gig makes life easier when periods like 2008-9 hit and no one is building a house and all you get are service calls.

Assuming it's a lack of demand rather than excess of supply
Well, that is a spin. By definition, it has to be both at the same time. At least I think I know what you were getting at.

Boeing not hiring engineers anymore. Focusing on black history majors.

I’d argue liberal arts, fine arts, nor art history have a worthwhile career opportunity after college especially considering how much they would have paid for their degrees.
There are lucrative jobs that require Fine Arts or Art History degrees but they are very limited. Primarily concentrated in large cities and primarily at large prestigious auction houses. There are also a decent number of jobs in the field that offer salaries that allow a comfortable living but again those are concentrated in large cities and at the larger museums.
A Liberal Arts degree (different from a Liberal Arts education) is too broad of a study field to get a great job with just a 4 year degree it is really more a pre-cursor to a lot of graduate studies.

SHould immediately stop all subsidized learning for these majors, or at least put a cap on headcount and dollar amount.

Sooooooo. Stay away from art. Got it.

It’s a list of college degrees not jobs.
Median salary for an English major in any job is 63,000
Median salary for a plumber is 60,000
If we actually had free market capitalism this wouldn't be the case.

The underemployment number is more in line with how useless a bunch of these degrees are.

My son starts this fall and is pursuing an ME degree with a discipline in aerodynamics and automotive engineering.

Boeing sure could use a few.

Honestly I am surprised that biology isn't on there. Lots of biology majors who planned on med school, vet school, etc are pretty much unemployable with a basic biology degree. I see them working in roles where only a state license or certification is needed without a college degree all the time. To a lesser extent I see Chemistry majors doing the same.
They should then go to nursing schools and eventually become FNPs.

I don’t believe any of those numbers are that low. Any of them.
