The whole "Courtney Love hired El Duce to kill Kurt Cobain" conspiracy theory was started by El Duce and his band. It was proven to be BS a long time ago. They even admitted they made it up.

According to the self-published book Truth Is Funnier Than Fiction by Mentors bass player Steve Broy, the whole story was concocted by Mentors associate Rev. Bud Green in order to sell to supermarket tabloids.

That's my theory and why I think she is innocent.

Courtney is too drugged out and stupid to be a criminal mastermind and get away with this.

Kurt killed himself due to drugs and there effects.

Cobain swallowing a shotgun did more for Nirvana's popularity/longevity than anything the band could have ever done musically

I love 90's music and Lithium is one of my top SiriusXM channels, but whenever Nirvana comes on I change the channel. Overrated as frick

Like Tupac. He's much more esteemed in death than he ever would've been alive.

The private investigator Love hired says he believes without any doubt Love had a huge part in his death. She had him killed. Couple that with her psychotic personality and it’s a pretty good chance she did it. 85/15 she did it IMO.

What's amazing about the 90s is that the top rocker of the day, Kurt Cobain, got blitzed on drugs and shot himself dead, while the biggest rapper of the era, Tupac Shakur, was caught-up in gang activity and was murdered in a drive-by shooting.

It's as thought what each star's fanbase would sarcastically suggest might ultimately happen came true. Each lived his role to the extreme.

The 90s were all about authenticity, as proven by the death of Cobain and Tupac.

Courtney because she was going to lose the gravy train. He reportedly was planning to divorce her and had written a letter saying so,

This theory is so ridiculous and is not based in any sort of reality. Divorcing a broad very rarely if ever ends her gravy train if you divorce her, especially if you’re well off financially. There’s alimony, child support among many things to consider. Murdering him would most certainly end the gravy train though because he’s no longer around to produce more music. She wouldn’t get child support or alimony either. Truth be told, she's only entitled to whatever is left after his estate is settled. Sure Nirvana remains popular 30 years later but there’s no way she could have foreseen that 10, 20 or 30 years into the future.

Just frick off. Not everyone has to hold Cobain in reverence. His music sucked back in the day, and still sucks today. Just because his mopey arse stuck a barrel in his mouth doesn't mean he needs to be canonized as some sort of generational icon.

No need to get angry.

If you want to think Nirvana is/was overrated, that's fine. You can even think he wasn't the best vocalist (which is fair).

But to deny their influence on grunge/music in general and on our generation, even to this day, is just being ignorant.

The hilarious part about people trying to be edgy and saying Nirvana sucks and are overrated is that Kurt would have 100% agreed with you.

Yep. The private investigator lays it all out, as well as the odd behavior of Courtney and others during the time Kurt was 'escaped from rehab.'

And to all of the hating fogs, 90's music was basically Gen X taking all of the boomer rock we were forced to listen to and worship, chewing it up and barfing it out. It was about catharsis, visceral expressions of real emotion.

Something you and all your homosexual rappers could never understand.

He might have died on April 5th, but his body wasn’t discovered until April 8th.

The only person of note who saw Kurt between the time he escaped from rehab, and when his body was discovered was Duff McKagen of Guns n Roses when they shared a flight from L.A. to Seattle.

They had a prenuptial agreement and Kurt wanted out of both the marriage and the music industry. He didn't want the fame and glory, but it was all she wanted. The gravy train was ending not just for her but for him too, because that's what he wanted.

And she is a conniving psycho. When Kurt walked out on her and she didn't know where he was she falsely reported his credit card stolen, she planted a story in the AP that she had overdosed just to lure him back home, bragged about her savvy in manipulating the media, and she tried to get her P.I. to hire someone to hack the airlines to find out where Kurt may have flown to because Michael Stipe had recently given Kurt plane tickets, all of which she admitted to on tape.

And who the frick cares about 10, 20, 30 years into the future, Kurt hadn't even been gone 10 years and she had been in suits with his estate to invalidate the prenup and seize control over the estate from Frances and against Grohl and Novoselic for control of the band's material.... which was highly lucrative at the time and all of which she would have had ZERO of if he had divorced her.

With her track record, it's not out of the realm of reason to think she might have had him killed. You don't need to think Kurt was some infallible rock god or that Nirvana was the bestest band ever to consider the possibility.

Hardly. They're ok.

I just think it's funny how so many OT'ers think it's cool to crap on them b/c they think it's cool and edgy.

It’s pretty amazing how normal of a person she turned out to be. Keeping herself out of the spotlight certainly helps. Also just married Tony Hawk’s son so I’d imagine having that family as a constant in your life certainly helps
