Jill Campbell said that they traveled through seven countries in 48 hours to arrive in Senegal Monday night.
But now they're reconsidering if they even want to return to the cruise.
"We are considering whether or not we are going to board the ship. It is in dock here in Senegal," she said. "We believe there was a basic duty of care that they had forgotten about, so it does concern us."
"After what we witnessed, we truly believe that although there’s a set of rules or policies that the ship may have followed, they followed those rules too rigidly. I believe that they really forgot that they are people working in the hospitality industry and really the safety and wellbeing of the customers should be their first priority," Jill Campbell added.
Norwegian noted the passengers were responsible for making their own travel arrangements to rejoin the ship.
Why the frick did she go through "seven countries in 48 hours" to get to Senegal and NOT board the ship? It seems like if she felt so unsafe, that she would have flown to wherever she was scheduled to fly home from and tried to move up her departure date. And she doesn't want her luggage back? After a couple of days and seven countries in Africa I think I'd want to change my underwear.
This is so stupid and they've made matters worse by willingly publicly humiliating theirselves.

They make it very clear that they WILL NOT WAIT for anybody that fails to return to the ship before departing. These dumb asses must have thought they would get special treatment. I wonder if they were queens and kings and shite??

When a ship says 3:00, it means 3-oh fricking-clock.
No sympathy. The other 2 or 3 thousand passengers were able to make it back.

How is this any different from missing your flight? Don't expect to be waited for.

I went to the Today show YouTube channel because I refused to believe they actually did a news story defending these entitled assholes and they sure as shite did. Posted 8 hours ago. I left an angry comment on there. This is the type of shite that really upsets me and that fact a major news outlet did a story on it makes my blood boil. I can’t stand Karens and entitled pricks like this that think they the victim in this situation.

Sounds like Jill is angling for a lawsuit but the joke’s on her because there are no laws in Africa.

So where is coverage of the other American tourist from that boat who had a stroke the previous day ashore, boat's medical staff decided to move her to a local hospital, didn't notify her family in Oregon, kept her clothes etc. on board, and the next day the hospital discharged her.
The boat wouldn't take her back on board either. The good guys took care of her, found her suitcase left at the dock (where the ship had never tied up), and later her credit cards and some IDs were found under a seat in a taxi. The people some of you dismiss, loaned her money, arranged her flight to Lisbon and to the USA, and her family was grateful.
San Tome is not your average port, and the local coast guard took the nine out to the ship before any anchors were hoisted. They were given their passports.
The ship didn't even go to its next port so time didn't matter, and an island far offshire didn't have enough tidal fetch to make "catching the tide" any bit of importance.

Wife and I enjoy cruising, those folks have NO ONE but themselves to blame. They tell you over and over and over when to be back
Yup. There’s an old joke that gets used a lot.
It takes 15 min in Cozumel to get from the.ship to the bars.
It takes 45 min to get from the bars to the ship.
The difference is staggering.

Cruise passengers are warned that the ship does not wait for anyone. To be safe it is a good idea to get on the ship well before it is set to depart.
We take the cheap boat to Cozumel once a year or so and go to one on the all inclusive beach clubs. They are all around 10-15 min taxi ride from port.
I make sure I am in the taxi headed back to the ship 2 hrs before departure without exception. Mind you, I am usually completely tanked at this point.
You do not F around with this.

I’ve never seen a thread with so many of the exact same responses.

People try and deny that white privilege exists. It’s hard to do when you have idiots like these.

They FA and went on an excursion, on their own.... and then at 3PM, when they were supposed to be back on the ship, they FO. The amount of sympathy I have for them is 0.

Frick these idiots. When the captain of a ship tells you when the ship is departing, you best be on the ship. Rules of the sea.
