Why is this a news story? Cruise ships leave people all the time. It’s not like they were stranded in some war torn region if it was a cruise ship stop.

It's not that hard to follow directions. This Karen can GGF

Tough shite. They knew what time they were supposed to be back and didn’t make it.

Bingo. And by the story, they went on a private excursion and not one that was offered by the cruise lines that most passengers take advantage of.

The boat is on a schedule. We watched 4 people get left in grand cayman in 2001. It was hilarious.

São Tomé and Príncipe isn't the worst place to be left behind. At least they're not on the mainland. There's not even a travel advisory for ST & P.

Watching from the balconies as people sprint down the pier to get to the ship was very entertaining.

You and I may have been on the same cruise. Left out of NOLA, 7 day deal. It was hilarious.

As for this woman, what an entitled, vapid count. Everything that is wrong with people is reflected here.

I've heard that these boats don't frick around with the whole 'you better be back by this time or we're leaving you're arse here' thing.

Correct, and they are incredibly clear about it. There is zero ambiguity.

They know exactly who is on board and who is still not on board and actually do wait up to a few single minutes after time if possible, but no, generally they aren't waiting for anyone not the captain.

My cruise last year left 2 people behind. We saw them running to the port with the boat pulling away with their hands in the air. Happens ALL of the time. Luckily they were in Mexico so not too bad of a place.

Usually do a non cruise excursion to save $$$, but fully understand the risk so don’t go somewhere you wouldn’t mind spending a few extra days at.

Wife and I enjoy cruising, those folks have NO ONE but themselves to blame. They tell you over and over and over when to be back

Cruise passengers are warned that the ship does not wait for anyone. To be safe it is a good idea to get on the ship well before it is set to depart.

It is your job to get back to the cruise. If you go on a non cruise sanctioned outing then you are on your own. They knew what they were doing.

Yep. If it’s an excursion set up by the cruise line they will either wait for you or make travel arrangements for you to get back to the boat. If it’s private, then you are on your own.

Cruise lines are very specific about this, its not a mystery. They gambled and lost.
