I understand Louisiana has a terrible education system, resulting in citizens who are uneducated and dumb.

But there cannot possibly be "this" many fans who actively hate their own school they supposedly support, or this many fans who have no idea how sports actually work.

So that leads me to beleive that a lot of these threads are started by actual fans of other schools, trolling and pretending to be LSU fans... for some bizarre and sick reason.

The Mighty Chicken has created a website that is known throughout the entire country and especially the South. Too many people seem to get a sick fun out of trolling people and pretending to be someone they are not.

TL; DR: Are our fans actually this dumb or are we being trolled by outsiders?

Fans can have principles just like the players pretend to have.

I think it’s a combination of both. TigerDroppings has a life of its own, and has grown a following much larger than just LSU folk. I do think a lot of the shite you see thrown across the room is from fans of other fanbases just looking to troll.

On the other hand, every single fanbase has fans with ridiculous expectations and fans that get too caught up in the sentiment of “we need to win everything or the sky is falling” I definitely know of a few posters who are LSU fans, but yet find a way to try and tear down anything positively related to LSU.

I just think the idea of a fan has changed in the last 10 years. It went from blind, loyal, and "fan"atical support of your team to the feeling that we should have extreme expectations and be able to bash anyone we want. That no one or no topic is off limits. Keyboard warriors or people who really need to get their life in order of importance.

There was a time where I was wading in those waters. I finally had the realization that there is absolutely nothing I can do that will in anyway affect the outcome of a game. So, I choose to cheer and want them to win/compete. If they do lose then I just move on until next time. It's just sports.

Been an LSU fan for 60 years now. Can't imagine being a fan of any other team in any sport.

Clearly you aren’t yelling at the TV loud enough for them to hear you.

What drugs are you taking, and where can I get them? I try to say, "it's just sports", but try as I might, I still yell/cuss at the TV, and every loss feels like a dagger in the heart.

Oh, and LSU MechE '86

There should be a medium there. Yeah, root for your team, but don't sit there and be blind and silent to things you see can be fixed. Or should be fixed. And I do agree hell there is nothing any of us can do.....but vent issues or give props on message boards like this. And both should be here.

Idk how old you are but I've found as I've gotten older I no longer invest as much into it. LSU drops a game it has no impact on me or my well being. LSU is doing well, I'm excited but I also don't invest emotionally like I did when I was younger and a student.

I’m the same way. There used to be a time where I hung on every play. A loss would have me pissed for three or four days. Now that I’ve gotten older it’s just not as much of a priority. A wife and three kids will help you put things in perspective. I still watch every baseball game and every football game but I have no control over the outcomes or any aspect, so there’s no use in letting it get to me one way or the other.

I’ve learned to get more joy out of the small things. This baseball season one of my favorite things is Jared Jones’ improvement at the plate. Last year once conference place started, any breaking ball on the outside of the plate would have him in knots. This year he has made tremendous improvements on laying off of those. Every time I see him spit on one or check his swing I can’t help but think “Good eye Bear”.

So that’s what I’m going to continue to do. Take more joy in the small things and watch these teams fight through struggles and better themselves throughout the season. I’m going to enjoy the high points and hope they can learn from the Lowe’s. That’s what sports is supposed to teach you

Me too..I hate the trolls LSU is biggest college sports brand ever in USA.
Don’t think games at Death Valley doesn’t help Torina or JJ with recruiting for their teams (Skenes inBB and Lynch in softball on the record saying so)
We may not always win but like Angel says “everyone wants to be LSU”
