If im the deputy that was trying to help her i wouldve murdered the dumb arse that fired.

Nah, everyone here has been few gunfights before and have successfully killed all the bad guys and saved the good guys....at least in their video game world.
The cop(s) that accidentally shot her are probably on suicide watch. This a terrible outcome for everyone except the POS father.

Obviously the true victim here.
Jackass.

As the cops were running up they saw the girl in full tactical gear and they shot her.
i usually defend officers, i know they have a tough job and take alot of unwarranted crap. There's no defending this though.

So no one is able to watch a video and state an opinion unless they have "experienced incoming fire".
You sure are making this about you for some reason.

Its amazing how irrational this board can be. You think the person that fired the shot saw her and thought "ima kill that kid"?
If cops were trained like seal team 6 then this probably wouldn't of happened. But they aren't anything but reg joe's off the street who took a simple course. If you want seals patrolling the streets then contact your representative and ask them get it done. Also ask them to up your taxes by a far margin because they aren't cheap like joe's off the street.

I dont think having the presence of mind to not fire at someone unless youre positive theyre a threat is asking too much. thats just me though. If these guys just showed up and didnt know whether or not the kid was a threat they shouldnt have fired.

Seems like the only answer is more defunding of the police amirite?

The man who pulled the trigger should be traumatized, and he should also be put in jail.

I'm somewhat sympathetic to both viewpoints.
- First, it's unacceptable. It just can't happen. Nobody should apologize or excuse it. When you sign up for the job you take on the responsibility.
- Second, I think it's worth considering how we talk about and handle this stuff on the backend. While there will always be some people up for the challenge/responsibility (for better and worse) the pitch of "come make 50-70k in a career where you may be labeled a murderer for errors in judgment" will ultimately lead to what we're seeing - difficulty in finding good LEOs.
Candily, I'm not sure how we reconcile them. There probably aren't enough realistic candidates for the amount of LEOs we need who can do the job as we all envision. So you're in a position where you either have to greatly increase the incentive to get into the field for those with higher intelligence/judgment, or you have to strike some sort of balance where you hold the idiots responsible without going so far as to alienate cops and reducing the number of aspiring LEOs.
I think we're in a situation now where the people who want to work those jobs for modest pay and potentially life altering risk is naturally a combination of good-judgment alphas and bad-judgment imbeciles. In other words, not ideal.

What in the actual hell? The deputies were unloading into a car where they knew the girl was in too. Then you can see she’s out of the car and crouched down before another deputy says come to me, then she gets lit up. That’s just straight up incompetence and those deputies should be on trial for murder.

The hatred of police in this country has resulted in having to hire fricking retards. This is gross incompetence on the part of this officer and their entire department.
We've made it so undesirable to be a cop that we're hiring former jarheads and morons.
This blood is on the hands of the 'Defund The Police' camp. Way to go, motherfrickers. You just killed a 15 year old girl.

I hope hes not traumatized yet. Hes got a lot to deal with when they lock him up. If I were him, Id be prepping how I was going to do my time.

I'm pretty sure she was shot by multiple officers. The officer that walked her into that volley of gun fire is probably the more traumatized.
Why not tell her to lay down and get on the radio and call cease fire?

I once thought about it this way
I am a CPA. I have thought back on how dumb some entry level staff are. Like dumb dumb. And we only hired 3.5 Gpa and above college graduates. But, the only responsibility they had was the first pass through reconciling bank statements, sending out confirmations, etc
Entry level cops get hired straight out of high school almost with 2.0 gpas and they get a gun and license to kill
Kinda terrifying

Are cops not taught to assess a situation and identify their target?
Every body cam I see shows them wetting their pants and emptying the magazine anytime they are confronted with a threat.
I guess with terrible pay, police departments just recruit men with low T.
