Was it buehrle that went something like 7 or 8 perfect innings in the start after his perfect game?

Was Buehrle ever a top 5 pitcher in the league?

When he did it (for some reason) they were a dime a dozen. Don't know what was going on in MLB.
His was the only perfect game in 09. Roy Halladay and Dallas Braden were close together in 2010. Halladay was obviously elite; Braden got insanely hot for a minute but came back down to earth. The next PG was in 2012, when Philip Humber, Matt Cain and King Felix all three delivered perfect games in close proximity.
You’re right… from 09 to 2012 was pretty stacked with PGs.
Side note: you’re a knowledgeable baseball man.

He was 5th in the AL. Considering the NL that year, he was never top 5.

That 2005 White Sox rotation was not very good.
In a 5 game ALCS that year, relievers pitched a grand total of 2/3 of an inning. That is one of the most incredible stats I can ever remember in modern baseball.
Their staff wasn't loaded with stars, but they were very good, and most importantly, very durable. They had 4 starters make at least 32 starts.

That white Sox team is probably the least talked about WS winner ever.

He was 5th in the AL with:
Roy carpenter
Dontrelle Willis
Roger Clemons
Roy Oswolt
He was 9th at best.

The days of 300 game winners are over. The game is played different than it used to be. Time to adjust your standards.
Still a no from me for Buehrle, though. He was a great pitcher and I loved watching him play but he’s not quite there for me.

And if Pedro Martinez is in the Hof then Buehrle deserves to be
Pedro has more wins in fewer games
Pedro has nearly 1300 more strikeouts in 450 fewer innings
Pedro's ERA is nearly a full run lower than Buehrle
Pedro has a WAR of nearly 25 games more than Buehrle
Pedro has 3 more Cy Youngs than Buehrle (plus Pedro has another two 2nd place finishes while Buerhle never finished higher than 5th).
Buerhle isn't anywhere remotely close to being on the same level of Pedro.

Pitched on arguably the worst pitching staff to win a World Series that I’ve ever seen. That 2005 White Sox rotation was not very good.
I used to be a big all sports nerd in my day, but now I can barely remember who won the NCAA MBB tourney two years ago.
Guess priorities have changed.
