214 W - 160 L
3.81 career ERA
59.1 WAR
Only one losing season his entire 15 year career.
5x all star
4x gold glove
1 perfect game
1 no-no

Buehrle remains one of only 23 pitchers to throw a perfect game -- and one of only seven to throw both a perfect game and another no-hitter.

The other six are Sandy Koufax, Cy Young, Roy Halladay, Randy Johnson, Jim Bunning and Addie Joss.

All six are in the Hall of Fame.

Discuss.

Still a no, but his stats are actually better than I thought they were.

I wanna see him & Lance Lynn in a hot dog eating contest.

No, from me, however he’s in the Hall of Consistency.

Don't see 300 wins or 700 saves. So, no.

Context.

When he did it (for some reason) they were a dime a dozen. Don't know what was going on in MLB.

You don't need stats. Was he a star of the game for many years? That answers your question.

Pitched on arguably the worst pitching staff to win a World Series that I’ve ever seen. That 2005 White Sox rotation was not very good.

isn't a perfect game also a no hitter? So technically all 23 have had a no hitter.

No , technically it’s a no hitter plus no batters reaching base.

I’d probably not vote him in, but he doesn’t deserve an automatic no. Starters weren’t pulled as early as they are now but he didnt pitch in the old iron man era either. 300 wins is not a practical metric for any pitcher that has started their career the last ten years, yet his last season was 8 years ago so he is in the range of things slowly shifting.

Also going against him is that he wasn’t the high 90’s fastball, high 80’s wipeout slider guy. He had some serious talent but his pitches themselves weren’t top percentile necessarily so that doesn’t help his case. I like watching pitchers that don’t have to just overpower everyone.

I believe you've peddled this dumb opinion here before, and it's still wrong. The rotation was awesome all year.

Buehrle and Garland were All-Stars. The team ERA was best in the AL. The postseason ERA from the starters was 2.84, including four straight complete games in the ALCS. El Duque was the 5th starter, and he was working out of the bullpen by the end of the year.

Nope.

Only finished in the top five and Cy Young voting once. In that season, he finished fifth in Cy Young voting.

Hall of very good, but not Hall of Fame.

Yes, one is a subset of the other. All perfect games are no-hitters, not all no-hitters are perfect games.

Yes but the OP added the word another. So one perfect game and another no-hitter.

You forgot that amazing glove flip between the legs play

And if Pedro Martinez is in the Hof then Buehrle deserves to be

It's a no hitter. A perfect game has 0 hits, therefore is a no hitter. Might not get called that way by idiom, but it is that.

Jack Morris has the highest ERA (3.90) of any pitcher in Cooperstown, but he also threw 175 complete games & won the World Series with 3 different teams.
