Just remove the fact that they’re panties. They’re a random pair of socks, neither of you would be curious as to how they got in the house and who they belong to?
That's my thing as well. Something like that would drive me nuts trying to figure out what happened, which seems like where the OP is at this point.
Thinking about my household, I live with two females (formerly three until my oldest stepdaughter moved out). If I found random panties not only would I not recognize them outside of a few of my wife, but I wouldn't even be able to tell who they belonged to in the first place. So I'd likely just throw them in a dirty clothes basket and move on. But if it were something that stood out to me as not belonging to anyone in my HH, I'd definitely want to investigate and figure out the source. That's just how I'm wired I guess.
For the OP, if it's just him, his wife, and two kids under 3, the panties either got there via him or his wife. And since he knows it's not him, it has to be his wife considering there hasn't been another woman there any time recently (as far as he knows). The "maybe I'm bi" comment also is of interest, and likely requires a followup conversation. Weirdly, there aren't many nonchalant reasons that a pair of outside underwear would end up in your house. So it doesn't look good that there is an innocuous reason for them so far.

She could be hooking up with a girlfriend. Then you need to wonder if he has man is involved and you aren't. Definitely don't stop asking until you get an answer you feel comfortable with.
Her "finding" them and instantly knowing they arent from something you did shows she "knows" or at least has an idea. Did you know they weren't hers due to the size of them? Does she have a friend she goes to the gym with where she accidentally grabbed them off the bench when grabbing her stuff? No recent friend stay over recently? Yeah she knows and her not having a legit reason to tell you and avoiding that is sketchy as heck.

Yeah not many. I’ve been trying to come up with some, best I can do is maybe they stayed at an Airbnb, did laundry there and brought the previous guests undies home by mistake or something.
I guess to argue against my own point, it could be difficult to track where they came from. Like you, I’m outnumbered by females and I do laundry for me, my wife and my youngest. I’ve found articles of female clothing folded up in fitted sheets that got washed weeks prior, so it’s possible that the panties could have been in the house for a while before they were discovered.
But yeah, in any event I’d still try to figure it out.

This is also a good point. Very few people, especially women, would be nonchalant about strange panties showing up in their house. I don't know if she's cheating or whatever, but the reason lies 100% at her feet if there have been no other adults in the house in a long time. And her reaction of "I have no idea who those belong to, but they aren't mine...oh well" doesn't fit.

1- if wife's panties were in the burn bin, did you smell em? smell familiar or strange?
2- I would've absolutely looked at the tag/brand. I probably would've said something on the spot too...just something like hey did you mean to put these in the burn bin? lol....dam baw. sounds like you don't remember size, style, brand....nothin.
Like everyone here says, I don't necessarily know my wife's panties inventory, but I do buy most of her panties b/c I'm the one looking at it. So I know which brands I've bought and what size she is.
If y'all ain't buyin bras, panties and lingerie on the reg for holidays I can't help you.
If it were up to her they'd be some boring arse granny panties. Nah dude, gotta get the choice cuts on there.

My mom and MIL are both in their 70s and thin. I would not consider black panties abnormal for them to wear. I have done laundry at each of their homes and mine when they visit and know they don't wear granny panties up to their armpits. Sorry for the shocking info guys

Is it possible she had skid marks or minor stains from her period that you didn’t even notice? Perhaps she tossed them for this reason, but is too embarrassed to admit these are hers.

Right, but the real part to think about is why did she put them in a place he would likely find them and lead him to asking about them. A million ways she could have disposed of them if she didn't want him to find them, and find them in a way where they would stand out and make him ask questions. If he saw them mixed in with the rest of the clothes, or even in the trash, he likely wouldn't have said anything about it.

Change a few of your floodlights bulbs to camera lights. The indoor camera shite can get pricey but I'm sure you can figure out something cheap
