The twenty cities in the United States with the highest murder rates (murders per 100,000 people) are: New Orleans, LA (40.6)
Of that 40.6%, 1.35% involved tourists and 8.35% involved normal law abiding citizens going about their day.

St. Louis, MO (69.4)
Baltimore, MD (51.1)
New Orleans, LA (40.6)
So third best place to be murdered
Also, I’m curious what kind of violent/property crime rate (rape, armed robbery, car jacking, car break ins, home invasions) NOLA has compared to other US cities.

Crime has tapered off big time post covid. The crisis New Orleans is facing right now is insurance & property tax. Will phase out not only the poor, but the already small, middle class that is the true lifeblood of the community.

I guess as far as cities they aren’t wrong. Ghettos, crime, useless officials, low tax base - all common with “cities.” But we have the food and a few other things that no northern city can touch.

Only one Florida city and it is Orlando. Shows you how ridiculous the ratings are.

Ive heard from people IRL and read it a lot on here that Orlando is great place to live, but I don't think it's for me. I've spent a lot of time there, in some of the nicer areas and it's definitely fine enough, but there's no way it's the best city in Florida.

Turns out the editors of Southern Living who think NO is so great also think we landed on the moon

I’m from NOLA originally. Moved out. I was just there for a wedding. Left my hotel room in the CBD twice. First time, saw a guy throw a vodka bottle at the wall and it broke, because he couldn’t pay for it. Second time, saw a kid walk into a corner store on canal and snatch some stuff off a shelf and jam it into the pockets on his hoodie. Place was always bad but it’s even worse now.

I used to go to New Orleans at least 3 times a month. Was a great city back in the early yo mid 80’s. Always felt safe. Now you could not pay me to even drive through there.

It was better when the mafia ran the city.

Also, they have Tulsa, Oklahoma listed in their top 25. When did Oklahoma become part of the south?
It's proof that the author was actually ranking "the top 5 blackest best cities in the SEC states."

It’s simultaneously one of the best and worst cities in America.
Glad I spent 10 years there. Truly incredible. And now I’m glad I live somehow else that is comparatively “boring”

to be fair, it just says best cities.... doesn't say best cities to live in....
yeah, NOLA is a cool town with lots of touristy stuff to do, lots of history, lots of culture, etc... but in terms of a place to live, nah, bruh....

Texas nor Florida have a city on that list while having large cities. Why?
Posted on 3/14/24 at 6:44 pm to Fun Bunch
Jacksonville, Tampa, Sarasota, Orlando, Fort Meyers

Would be the second to last city in Florida I'd live in (the last being Gainesville).
