I think the even bigger takeaway is to teach them that when they drink ALWAYS have a battle buddy/wingwoman. I bet almost every guy here can remember a time in a bar/party where they got cock blocked by someone's friend. Teach your daughters never to leave their friends and never don't leave when their friends leave. We all know what it is like to be with a drunk person bound and determined to make a bad decision, it is a huge PITA arse to talk them down but the convenience of rolling out and heading home can result in devastating consequences.

I got a sick feeling in my stomach reading this. I know the case, in a way, hinges on this. But man, reading that makes my skin crawl. I feel as though I need to take a shower after reading through this thread.
I couldn’t imagine being that girl’s family sitting through this in court. I also couldn’t imagine being the defendants’ families sitting through court having to listen to this.

Classic case of "she asked for it". How do they sleep at night? Each and every one of these young men, need to be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. I hope her dad takes care of each one of them.

I drive past this site at least once a day. It's just not lit very well at night, and there isn't any reason for a pedestrian to be there in the first place.

Good for the defense lawyers, they’re just doing their Constitutional duty.
Typically under “rape shield laws” the defense is prohibited from talking about a victim’s peripheral sexual activity to avoid “slut shaming” victims.
One exception to that is they can introduce evidence the victim had sex with someone else that could have caused the injuries attributed to the defendant.
The problem with that is often times consensual sex causes the same type of injuries that non-consensual sex can also cause.
Don’t blame the lawyers, blame the doctors who will undoubtedly be called as a witness and will testify there’s no way to tell which sexual event these injuries came from (because there isn’t).
This opens the door to the defense being allowed to talk about her previous sexual encounter, which has the added possibility of “slut shaming” the victim.

Keep in mind the only videos that anyone has seen are the ones that the defense selectively leaked to the media.
I feel pretty confident that whatever has been made publicly available and/or seen by media members is the stuff that paints the defendants in the best possible light. The real question (which will come out at trial) is what comes out of the videos that led to the video voyeurism charge against Carver.
It seems like the prosecution was already facing a bit of an uphill battle with the medical evidence (outside of her 0.319% BAC) given the DNA results - which I would add were also leaked by the defense attorneys. But if there are videos showing multiple defendants having sex with her that’s a pretty big deal. Especially if those videos also show her being incapacitated, saying no, or something along those lines.
Nobody knows what those videos show, though, because only one side is leaking stuff to the media. At this point it seems most of the DA’s case hinges on that unknown.

Why would we blame the doctors, who received a subpoena and are testifying under oath, for correctly identifying that the injuries cannot be determined to have been caused by a specific instance of both instances occurred within a day or two of each other.

Exactly. Which is why I laugh when I see posters on here automatically wanting the boys to be shot to death.
I think the boys were terrible but I also think there’s more to the story than thugs raping an innocent virgin.

Well then you can’t blame the lawyers either. All they’re doing is arguing legal principles based on laws that were passed by the Louisiana legislature.
