NY/Boston

This is the only answer.

Yankees-Sox
Giants-Pats Super Bowls (+the Parcells and Belichick tie ins)
Knicks-Celtics

I would say Atlanta/Charlotte(NC as a whole) before I'd say Atlanta/New Orleans. When ATL still had hockey, you had Falcons/Panthers, Hawks/Hornets, Thrashers/Canes.

Same with ATL v Tampa Bay/Orlando. Only sport they didn't compete against each other was MLB, due to different conferences/leagues.

To me the first that comes to mind is New Orleans and Atlanta. Similar demographics, same region, and multiple teams in each location that play in the same division.

I assume there are lots of Braves fans in NOLA though going back to the TBS days. Especially before the Astros went on their current run.

Until I joined this site, I never knew ATL/NO had a thing going.

Interesting. We’ve been told that every Astros fan in Louisiana has been a lifelong fan

Growing up in Atlanta I knew of a rivalry of sorts with the Saints, but if you're not on this website and you're not some mega Falcons fan it is very much in the background.

New Orleans isn't competition for Atlanta on anything else really. Even on Atlanta sports radio, etc., there will be a couple of slights at the Saints when a game is coming up but it's not like "OH IT'S FALCONS SAINTS WEEK"

Blackhawks-Blues has been a thing in the past, but mostly you're right. If you're not a Cubs fan, you don't really think about St Louis.

Chicago sports fans chant "Detroit Sucks".

I'd watch the Killer B's in the morning during the summer on Fox Sports SW when I was a kid, they'd show replays of the games from the night before. I'm now in my 40's, so people younger than me could be lifelong fans, I'm not an Astros fan btw.

Pelicans and Hawks don’t have a rivalry

Bulls-Pistons
White Sox-Tigers
Bears-Lions

Blackhawks-Red Wings not much of a thing, though, because they're in different conferences.

Not really a sports rivalry thing, probably more of a cultural thing. Cowboys and Texans only play once every four years in the regular season. Rockets and Mavs have rarely competed at the top of the Western Conference at the same time. Astros-Rangers has had a couple of good finishes in the 11 years they've been in the same division - 2015 and last year. Astros sucked when the Rangers were good, then the Rangers sucked when the Astros were good. A's were probably a bigger thorn to both before their collapse.

St. Louis and Chicago. Going back to when both were vying for Midwestern supremacy in the late 19th century. They’ve met in every league postseason but the NFL and MLS.

And Loyola and SLU renewed their rivalry a year ago when the former joined the Atlantic 10.

St.Louis-Chicago

In the old NHL, there were more fights in the stands than on the ice, and each team had about 3-4 goons.

Dude, Blackhawk and Blues fans hate each other, not like back in 70's thru the 90's, but there were close to 6-10 fights a game, in the stands. You as a fan of either, in away stadiums, better have your head on a swivel, you could take a cheap shot.

you would see Bloody hoosiers from both sides bleeding, and then getting an arse beating from St.Louis city cops.

The nba is the wrinkle in all of this, I am not sure what legitimate rivalries even exist anymore. BOS-NY may be the only semblance of a rivalry. I think Milwaukee-Chicago is a good one tho, cubs/brewers, bears/packers hate each other. Yes GB isn’t exactly milwaukee but if New England = Boston, Green Bay = milwaukee

Does not matter that the Celtics and Lakers are in different conferences. The fan bases truly HATE the other team.
