For increased corporate profits .. the answer is always “profits”.. if you have a pleasant experience, then that is just a byproduct .

Why should I care? Would you prefer an unpleasant experience?

Isn't everything we spend money on supposed to be pleasant in some way? Isn't that what drives economies? What else do you want?

This isn't rocket surgery. They're trying to discourage the use of 3rd party apps to order, because it wipes out their margins.

quote:

Uber takes a cut of between 20 to 30 percent of all orders, a high margin but one that has become commonplace with the growth of DoorDash

If you order McDonalds through the McDonalds app, rather than through Uber Eats or Door Dash, the restaurant doesn't pay the fee. So they can afford to give you a free QPC, etc.

Lmao.. guess reading comprehension isnt your strong point.. Show me where i said there was something wrong with it ? I was just stating a fact, which is that they are trying to get you to order on an app to INCREASE PROFITABILITY.. i made no judgements whatsoever.. but if you think the reason they created the app was for you to think it’s more pleasant, that’s not the reason, profitability is.. again, NOTHING wrong with that.. tbh i think you are splitting hairs .

It’s definitely cheaper, a lot of the commercials/ads advertise as it being cheaper.

Apps are really just customized browsers that gradually suck up resources on your device making the next upgrade necessary.

Most places are incapable of getting an order correct. The app helps by adding another layer to cause more frickups.

The person making the order is reading a computer screen either way. The difference is whether I tap the order in, or try to communicate to some idiot who taps the order in. Cutting that idiot out removes a layer of possible frickup.

Yep the Popeyes app definitely helps. Especially if you and your spouse each order a special from your own accounts to maximize savings.

I remember talking to either a Door Dash/Uber Eats/whatever driver at a restaurant waiting for my take out order who basically told me that he just couldn't believe how many people were ordering food for delivery, but that he appreciated the business.

And it dawned on me just how many food delivery bags I see when I go pick up my meal at a restaurant. I don't know, I just figure if I have two legs and a car, why would I need someone else to deliver me food?

Just seems like a totally unnecessary cost.

I just had this experience at a Wendy's.

I pull up to the speaker, and they say their system is down.

I proceed to tell them that I just placed a mobile order.

They told me to pull up to the window and proceeded to give me my order.

Isn't it too late at that point? Why would I pull up the app if I'm talking to the order taker?

Subway is buy 1 get 1 free, McDonald's too is 50% off on just about anything.

Huge discounts to get you using them. McDonalds already removed the cashier, if you go inside

Have you seen fast food prices lately? They have plenty of room to offer discounts with the intention of changing the model.

Eventually they will be able to cut employees. With min wage increases that starts to add up.

I’ve never seen it cheaper. I do very much prefer it though. Walk in, grab a bag with your sandwich in it and walk out.

Or a few clicks and a pizza shows up at your door.
