Bro I don't go through drive thru's nearly enough for this to affect me
You seem to be approaching this from the perspective of someone who lives in the ghetto or is poor. That isn't the case for a lot of people who live in Louisiana, especially those who post on TD.

I’m happy states like Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama and Arkansas are part of our union. Just shows our Red-neck okies aren’t so bad

Ok dude you can leave the thread now. You’re just posting dumb shite after dumb shite.

I'm not saying that crime doesn't occur because I haven't witnessed it, just that if you aren't stupid you can likely avoid it.
I grew up with a lot of people who got into bad shite. It’s widely believed that if you don’t go around starting shite and mind your business you won’t have any issues. You go, spend money, don’t be an a-hole and have a great time. It’s not rocket science.
Rule of thumb in Nola, after 10 or 11 PM you need to just keep your guards up. People are looking for easy targets which are drunk confused tourists.

The New Orleans of today is utterly unrecognizable from when I first lived there in 2012.
Ehhh I don’t really agree with this, but depends when you moved out I guess.
COVID New Orleans was really bad. It’s getting back to normal though since I guess early last year. 2020- early 2023 was a pain in the arse to be around here though.

Lots of people think crime in New Orleans east is literally representative of the entire state of LA. We all live in the ghetto, send our kids to failing public schools, and don’t have a career.
The idea that most of us don’t experience crime, pay less for private than some of you pay taxes for public, and have a stable career is mind blowing to some posters.

I'll bite. I'm from Philadelphia originally which is Greek for Land of Assholes. Long story how I ended up in Morgan City then Houma, but I'll never forget how welcoming and nice people were to me. Even when I pronounced Thibodaux; Tie-bod-ox, and Houma, Hoo-ma.
They would give me shite for being a yankee every now and then, but people were cool and laid back, let me eat in their houses and show me around. I'm also black mind you, which is important to the story.
I've traveled the world and no one compares to Louisianians.

I know you said no music but me, as a musician based in Nashville (from New Orleans originally), there is simply no state in the country that has as cool and deep of a musical history as Louisiana. Not New York, not California, not Illinois. It’s so much deeper than the stupid shite you hear on bourbon or the touristy zydeco you hear in dive bars.
Several incredibly unique and defined styles of music were born in LA. Most of these guys moved to bigger markets to get rich, but the styles were born and cultivated in LA. A lot of LA folks don’t even know some of them. I’m surprised at how many people don’t even know what the Louisiana Hayride was. Or who Leadbelly was. Louisiana and Mississippi were basically the birth of blues. And good luck hearing a good zydeco player anywhere outside of LA.
New Orleans has been my meal ticket as a professional, you learn to play in a certain way that other places just don’t have.
Other than that and the food though, I kind of don’t ever want to live in Louisiana again…

I'll be honest, as shitty as it is I do take pride in being from here. Its a unique state with an overall complex culture.
I feel like if the politics in the state wasn't so corrupt things would be a little better, but I like the fact that several weekends in the Spring I will be at a crawfish boil, just hanging out with the music on and outside most of the day until the mosquitoes get bad.

You may not want to get too attached to that whole "crawfish boil" thingy this year...

Most people in Louisiana are poor and or ghetto, you are coming at this from a high horse perspective. Louisiana is terrible as far as every objective or measurable metric goes. Facts don't care about your feelings

Buzz word alert. Dodging questions once again. He’s back.

Your point has been stated. Reminder that this is a Louisiana appreciation thread.

Buzz word meaning what? Objective simply means its not up for debate, like your appreciation of the food or culture is subjective. Objectively it is the worst state to live in. Good day sir
Posted on 3/6/24 at 5:03 pm to turnpiketiger
If you want subjective answers, you going to have to pull up to the line and wait

Once again. Find another buzz word to make your point. It means nothing.
