Indiana parents warn nation after child is removed from home for improper pronoun usage

Parents ask Supreme Court to hold Indiana responsible for removing transgender child from their home
A Catholic couple in Indiana is asking the Supreme Court to hold the state accountable for keeping their child out of their home after they declined to use his chosen name and pronouns.
In M.C. and J.C. v. Indiana Department of Child Services, Mary and Jeremy Cox are appealing to the Supreme Court after they were investigated by Indiana officials for refusing to refer to their son using pronouns and a name inconsistent with his biological sex.
Becket is pursuing the case on behalf of the Coxes, arguing state courts allowed Indiana to keep the child from living in his parents' home due to their disagreement with the child's gender identity because of their religious beliefs. Notably, upon completing the investigation, the state determined the allegations of abuse against Mary and Jeremy were unsubstantiated, but still argued that the disagreement over gender identity was distressing to their child.
quote:
In addition, the Coxes believed their son was struggling with underlying mental health conditions, including an eating disorder, so they sought therapeutic care for both.
But, in 2021, Indiana officials began investigating the Coxes after a report found they were not referring to their child by his preferred gender identity, removing the teen from their custody and placing him in a "gender-affirming" home. Despite the unsubstantiated claims of abuse, they claimed the Coxes made the child's eating disorder worse even though it worsened after he was removed and placed in a transition-affirming home.
quote:
When the case was first heard in trial court, Indiana officials argued the child "should be in a home where she is [ac]cepted for who she is" and restricted the Coxes’ visitation time to a few hours once a week, which barred them from speaking to him about their religious views on human sexuality and gender identity. Even though the court determined the Coxes were fit parents, it upheld the removal of their child which was later upheld by the appeals court.
"If this can happen in Indiana, it can happen anywhere," Windhamn said. "Tearing a child away from loving parents because of their religious beliefs, which are shared by millions of Americans, is an outrage to the law, parental rights, and basic human decency. If the Supreme Court doesn’t take this case, how many times will this happen to other families?"
There would be bloodshed.

This country is falling into the deepest pits of hell. There's a man and a woman. End of story

Didn't Indiana somehow recently elected a "moderate" Democrat Governor? That's literally the only reason this happened.
Kinda like how LA (a top 10 conservative state) somehow had some of the strictest COVID lockdowns because of its retarded looking "moderate" Democrat Governor.

Hard to overstate how scary this is. We have to be getting close to a tipping point with this stuff.

This is kidnapping and everyone involved should be prosecuted.

Here's an Indiana Law review of the case since most of the links are Christian sites. Seems the child was removed due to abuse/eating disorder more than the trans thing, but that would be harder to claim victimhood over.
It remained home for 2 years after declaring itself trans.
Hope this child received some help before it had any kind of gender reassignment surgery

In 2019, the Coxes’ son informed them that he identified as a girl. But because of their religious belief that God creates human beings with immutable sex — male or female — they could not refer to their child using pronouns and a name inconsistent with what was given at birth.
In 2021, the Indiana Department of Child Services began investigating the Coxes following two reports that they were suspected of abusing or neglecting their child.
“The court emphasized that it was not removing A.C. from the parents’ home due to a disagreement or ‘a child having a certain lifestyle that the parent[s] don’t agree with.’ … ‘There ha[ve] always been issues’ when ‘children do things that the parents don’t agree with,’ the court explained, and those disagreements are ‘not a reason to remove a child from a home,’” according to the state’s brief.
The court ordered A.C. to participate in eating disorder treatment and individual therapy and also ordered the parents and A.C. to continue family therapy. Additionally, the court left in place its order limiting discussion about transgenderism during visitations. The court agreed that it was acceptable to have discussions about A.C. and the parents’ beliefs about gender identity.
“In fact, ‘at some point they have to have that conversation.’ The court emphasized that these conversations should occur within the ‘family therapy that is being ordered’ because of the connection between these conversations and A.C.’s anorexia,” according to the state.
In 2022, Mary and Jeremy appealed the trial court’s orders to the Court of Appeals of Indiana, which affirmed. They then sought rehearing, which the Court of Appeals denied.
Meanwhile, A.C. turned 18 years old and DCS terminated the case.

Imagine The State making it compulsory that you use language that is false ( lies) or you use your parental rights. Make no mistake about it, this could never have happened if the Democrat Party had not initially pandered to this and then eventually began to promote it. The only way to defeat Progressive insanity is to beat Democrats in elections and then remove them one by one from state bureaucracies. This is going to be a total rebuild.

no. the Governor of Indiana has been a Republican since 2017, Eric Holcomb.
So I guess that isn't the reason it happened, much less the only reason, since that didnt happen.

There are entirely too many people in this country who are just fine with parents getting their kids taken from them because of bullshite like this. Hell, there are too many on this board who are accepting of it. Everyone involved with removing that child from his parents should be lined up in front of a firing squad and shot on national TV.

im·mu·ta·ble: unchanging over time or unable to be changed.
your chromosomes are immutable, but again, marxists don't care about science or actual definitions.
quote:So apparently they were never charged, just suspected? oh sweet little ot "centrist," this quote you've posted as some sort of "gotcha" doesn't make it any better: if this article is correct, the police state took a minor from a home over a couple of "trust me bro" sources. it'd be really interesting to know who those 2 sources were.
Coxes following two reports that they were suspected of abusing or neglecting their child.
quote:well then what was it for? if they were never charged and convicted for abuse, then what was it? a hunch? they abducted a minor from his nuclear family over a hunch of eating disorder abuse?
“The court emphasized that it was not removing A.C. from the parents’ home due to a disagreement or ‘a child having a certain lifestyle that the parent[s] don’t agree with.’
and you "centrists" applaud it.
it's so funny watching you little avowed "liberals" (in name only) go to bat and make excuses for the police/nanny state. you think just what we need is MORE precedence of government intrusion into the lives and trials and tribulations of law abiding, taxpaying citizens and what goes on in their households. this is a family affair - something the police state has no business with.

Ironic considering the entire premise of the trans agenda is not accepting what you were born as.

you realize you are just reading one biased side of this story correct? yet you are ready to sentence people to death over it.
I think we should do more research before we just take the parents word for it, especially when “The court emphasized that it was not removing A.C. from the parents’ home due to a disagreement or ‘a child having a certain lifestyle that the parent[s] don’t agree with."

"A DCS family case manager investigated the reports and met with the parents, A.C. and A.C.’s siblings, and spoke with an employee of A.C.’s school."
the parents had withdrawn A.C. from school and DCS “was unaware of the family’s intent to enroll Child in a new school”; and the parents had “discontinued” any therapy for A.C.’s mental health issues.
this is what led to the child being removed from the home. that isn't a hunch.
I could definitely see it being an overzealous Department of Child Services employee, but there were multiple steps taken and followed.

if they were never charged and convicted for abuse
is that a requirement when it comes to child services?
seems like parents should take their broken kid back to the stork and get a new one
