Mine expires at the end of the month but I can't get it renewed because I don't have the new registration. Checked the OMV to renew, but they say it's current. Now I am having to call and wait in a queue when I have the time.

You can now get your proof of registration on the states LAWallet app. You should see if it’s there

As someone who’s sticker expired in November and has no desire or intention on getting another anytime soon, I am definitely for this!

All these Baws with expired stickers best not pass thru Maurice. I got a ticket there a few years back. Cop pulls me over and asks if I knew why I was being pulled over and I told him I had no idea. My sticker was expired and I didn't even realize it.

frick the Po Po.

Never gonna happen.

State police get quite a bit of funding from the money used from people paying for inspection stickers

Do it. It's a joke anyway.

This sounds great and all, but Ascension, East Baton Rouge, Iberville, Livingston and West Baton Rouge parishes will all still have to have inspections. It will just be the emissions part.

It’s a requirement of the Clean Air Act of 1970.

Elaborate, please.

Where we go literally takes my money, writes down my license number and changed the sticker.

I The old days, they at least made sure that the brake/head/blinker lights all worked.

I only get them renewed because Uber and Lyft require it

Also any of y’all with expired stickers do not go through Maurice .. they’ll stop you with a quickness.

Ah, so they genuinely check to see if those functions work and you have to pay someone to verify that annually?

Dude that’s pretty funny

You pay $20 every two years. The state gets some and the old man at the tire place gets some.

Give them license registration insurance and $20 bucks, they take off old sticker, add new sticker, and put your info in the book. Takes 3 min

Got pulled over in Thibodaux a few years ago for an expired inspection sticker. Didn’t get a ticket but dude must have been pretty bored.

The last two times, the guy commented 'I saw you drive up- headlights work, breaks work. You're good.' Does the service center get a cut? I always thought if they did, it was pretty small.

ETA: found this article from 2012- it's a lot more than I thought.

For the most part, the cost is divided three ways: $4.75 to the station performing the inspection; $4 goes to Louisiana State Police; and $1.25 goes to the Office of Motor Vehicles.

Mine fell off from the heat and I haven’t replaced it. Do away with them.

In Maurice, they watch specifically for that. For a time they were stopping any and everyone ... I want to say state law gives a grace period (or so the guy taking care of my "inspection" told me) but Maurice dgas.

Bought my truck new in 2018, dealership put a 2 year on it. Haven't gotten one to replace.

Actually pulled the expired one off because it's a cheaper ticket to just not have one on than it is to have an expired inspection
