Christianity is a cult.

Why isn't this thread on PT just like every single Catholic-bashing thread on this whole message board.

Bottom Line - this Pastor believes in Bible Alone and he believes that the Bible tells him to do what he alone thinks that the Bible tells him to do. He even quotes Bible verses to support his beliefs, and he says that the Holy Spirit revealed the true meanings of these verses for him.

If this Pastor believes that the Holy Spirit and the Bible told him to do those things, he's going to Heaven. No, wait, according to the Eternal Security Protestant doctrine, this Pastor is going to Heaven regardless of how much he stole or how many times he stole it. Eternal Security means that the Pastor cannot lose his ticket to Heaven no matter how much he steals and sins.

Socially sanctioned cult. But a cult nonetheless.

first, find me a preacher working for nothing in return. They’re just dudes doing a job. no different than any other job.

Secondly, what’s a “real Christian?”

I've said it for years: When your preacher buys an airplane, he is no longer in the business of saving souls. There are plenty of souls within driving distance.

OK. The Pastor is a false teacher no doubt. Has been. Its always been about $$ to him. Is this not his son-in-law?

It is - apparently he went from broke to banging the preacher's daughter in three years.

Pops has three houses in Ruston worth 1.2 million and five brand new cars in his driveway. The home they live in is $620,000.00 with a pool. AND NO JOB other than people giving money to his church

This piss ant also lives in one of the father in laws's homes.

But how else will they give a sermon at a mega church on the other side of the country then make it back in time for their other sermon on the other side of the country? You really want them to like manage a normal schedule? The LAWD needs HIS followers to Shepard the herds everywhere but in their own backyard apparently

Painting with an awfully wide brush, aren't we?

I won't paint all denominational Christianity with that kind of brush, but I will contend that some of it is cultic.

I bet Ruston it lit up on this one. Serious spiritual abuse going on there. Only folks getting wealthy under his teaching are He and his family sounds like. What a perversion of the gospel.

Prosperity Theology is exactly what Jesus Christ was shooting for, I'm sure.

Paul wrote (through inspiration) about half the New Testament and he could’ve used some prosperity. Walking everywhere and ending up in prison. If this is a major tenant of Christianity, why wasn’t he more prosperous?

Maybe because he didn’t preach it and certainly didn’t practice it.
