This time feels different and even old folks that lived those decades can read the tea leaves and are afraid of the current situation.

People been saying this shite every decade. The 50s people thought the 60s was crazy. The 70s people thought the 80s was crazy. Etc.
I think a major difference with modern society compared to even just a few decades ago is the reliance we have on technology. I’m not saying our lives would be over if we lost our Iphones (would be a huge net positive for society), but at the current rate we are going you will not be able to purchase/repair/own?? anything that is gas powered. We will be eveb more reliant on electricity than we are now and that is incredibly fragile.
An EMP attack would be devastating.

This is actually a very interesting topic. So one of my New Year’s resolutions was to avoid politics in general. I stopped going to the TD poli board and I stopped watching anything related to the 24 hour news cycle.
Since then, my life has been exponentially turned around.
I will never again get bogged down into whatever machine this is/was that we’re staring into. I think I will vote Trump but I do think the powers-that-be may be aligned to stop him.
It’s very sad but I’d have expected my representatives to be able to angle it.

I guess it depends on what you mean by societal collapse. I'm picturing dogs and cats living together mass hysteria, while I don't consider the end of American hegemony or even hyper-inflation to, by themselves, be 'societal 'collapse.'
Hell, a lot of folks are actively calling for an end to American hegemony.
I think the economic arguments for America’s demise are a little funny too - America is the largest economy in the world and it’s not close. We make up 25% of global GDP.
Contrast that with components of the US economy - the entire financial services industry makes up something like 10% of US GDP. If you add real estate and insurance it goes up to ~20%. Yet we talk about individual banks in the US being “too big to fail.”
It’s not a perfect comparison but the moral of the story is this: If we go down, the rest of the world is going down with us.

America has fallen.
You can’t vote your way out of communism.

No idea, but the closer we get to November the more worried I get.

Glad our forefathers didn’t stick their heads in the sand and rolled up their sleeves instead.

I know what you’re trying to say but I’m not sticking my head in the sand. Again, I am paying enough attention to know what’s going on, but not paying enough attention to be stirred up against these fricked up machines. I just want to vote.

If the Mexicans start crossing the border in the other direction, then pack your shite.

8 mil illegal immigrants have walked across our border in the last 6 months. How many homeless people are living in this country now compared to a decade ago? Do you feel we are on a sustainable trajectory? I am implying that MANY people are completely oblivious to the modern threats that we are facing
The Fall Rome had one root cause at the heart of all causes listed by historians.
The dilution of The Roman Citizenry. Rome wasn’t Rome any longer !

100% this.
Between the border problems.
The other countries denouncing the dollar, China buying up the land in the usa and the debt we owe to them. UN paying for 100 of thousands of immigrants to come here etc. etc. etc. Right in the middle.
This administration with all its BS. The he/she/it/they/them/Woke shite this country has adopted we are the laughing stock of the world! Its a fricking shame

People have no sense of history anymore.

No WE didn’t. Our ancestors did.
WE are still Americans, correct?
OUR country has been through worse than anything you or I have seen in our lifetimes. That’s my point.

Do you feel the average male today is the same as the average male in America from 1940?
The “average male” has never been the one that holds society together. Great men do that and there are still enough of them. You probably have plenty in your own community. Don’t let nonsense on the internet warp your perception of what’s right in front of you.
And, again, this isn’t to say everything is wonderful but we are far from a societal collapse.

In the middle of it...Western Civilization is around 2400 years old...in another 2400 or so it most likley wont exist

What are you doing to fight communism?
Posted on 2/13/24 at 6:39 am to dnm3305
A few years ago, I would have said very close. Now, having watched my son and other kids in his high school coming through the grades, I have some hope. Many, if not most of them, are pretty level headed and can see the lunacy of those in their own and the generation in front of them. The ones in the headlines are always the idiots and the ones who have latched onto social media in an unhealthy way, but I really think their generation is going to be the one to turn this thing. Throughout our history, there has always been a pendulum swinging. It’s about to start moving the other way.
