I received a good offer from a company based out of Houston but the position is in Midland, TX. My wife and I took a trip this weekend out to Midland and actually enjoyed the city. It was clean in the nice areas and the people we did meet were nice. For every reason we can think of going, we can come up with a reason to not. We would be leaving CENLA.

What say OT lounge on Midland?

It’s an overpriced butthole of a city. There’s good reason flights out are so cheap.

If you enjoy hunting, you'd hunt well and eat well out there.
People who are there are really nice.

And a Midland joke:
How can you tell which way the wind is blowing without going outside?
The color of the dust in the air.

Moved to Midland from BR in 2002. Just moved to TN last year. Midland is a great place to make money and raise kids. Good food. HEB is the best grocery store, period. Midland is dry, hot, and windy all of the time. The water is undrinkable. You can’t even wash your car with it. There’s not a lot to do. Everyone around there has lake houses or ranches somewhere else and takes off on the weekends. People are good. Traffic is stupid for such a small place. Property taxes are ridiculous. The people and business opportunities are what kept us there for so long. Now I just do everything remotely and fly in for meetings.

Spent a lot of time in midland associated with our company office there.. a common comment from friends that lived there(some of us started together in Nola)…was no one wants to move to midland but not uncommon for the same people to not want to move once established and involved in raising family..

It offers what you would want if you are family focused. Good schools ..sports for kids.. etc.. suburban life.

West Texas is not for me but I know people that could not wait to move back.. all in your perspective on life..

Been to Midland once. Bubba’s 33 restaurant has the best burgers I’ve ever had by far.

This impact your wife's career at all?
