The Tucker interview was my first long form exposure to Putin

It's wild to imagine Biden sitting down with him in any negotiations requiring a matchup of wit.
I'm not sure what my expectations were of him but this guy is sly, calculated and quick witted. He casually tosses in a few jabs at Tucker along the way to try to assert his dominance over the conversation. Very interesting watch.
Putin: delivers a post graduate world history lesson...
Tucker: I'm just a little confused how all this relates
Putin: I understand you were a student of history. Here please enjoy these documents I've provided for your good memory.
Putin: ....this was done with the backing of the CIA. An organization you wanted to join back in the day. Let's thank God they didn't let you in.
Tucker: who blew up the Nordstream pipeline?
Putin: You did
Tucker: I was busy that day
Putin: you may have an alibi, but the CIA has no such Alibi.
His long form history lecture was interesting as it relates to how he views the justification of the war in Ukraine. But it had me cackling every time Tucker would try to steer it back to present day and Putin would tell him, yes I will arrive there soon. You say this was a conversation and not a talk show so I think you will find this interesting....
Tucker: yes Mr President, I just want to know how borscht became so popular in Russia
Putin: to understand this Tucker, you must return to the winter of 1389 when beet fields were all that thrived.
Tucker: I'm just curious why people like it so much
Putin: to answer that question you must have full appreciation of beets from a historic perspective. So this brings us to the Russo-Polish war of 1654

Yep. Murderous dictator? Yes. Stupid? No.

I don’t think posters around here understand how silly it makes them look as they post about how well Putin explained the history of this part of the world.
That opinion says far more about how little you yourselves actually understood to begin with. What he said is still only part of the story in the region.
And he was KGB, absolutely no one should be surprised that hes able to hold a conversation.
None of this is a new revelation.

He's a First Russia type of president which is exactly why he and Trump got along and understood each other so well.
I'd bet he told NATO to cool their expansion into corrupt Ukraine so Putin had no reason to invade!

I can't imagine any of the candidates. Putin is miles ahead of Biden, Haley or Trump.

As i said, this was my first long form exposure to Putin rather than just seeing edited clips. It was interesting to see how this guy operates real time. Very deliberate and calculated.

Nothing he said was a new revelation, it's the same as he's been saying. Whether or not he was justified to invade is each persons own decision to make.
That Americas foreign policy towards Russia (NATO)and profit hungry MIC aggrevated the situation is not debatable.
America and Europe would be better off with a friendly Russia than where are now.

I imagine Biden would lean over and say "Do you remember what happened to Corn Pop?" "If you're thinking of trying something I have one for you.........don't" All while whispering.

Did Putin address the holodomor?

quote:No. At least nowhere near in total. He is a lawyer with a PhD in economics ... that's the reason he's brighter than the average 'Bear.'
this guy is sly, calculated and quick witted.

Ted Bundy could talk people into coming back to his apartment. They found him interesting and felt totally safe.

I would say Trump is a good match, and not because he's "my guy".
Trump's opponents forget or ignore his business acumen, and that makes him a wildcard.
Let's not forget, in America the best and brightest don't go into politics, they go into the business world instead. Trump was successful in that arena. Go back and look at any of his pre-politics and TV persona interviews, anyone who met him thought he was very, very smart. He's what normally pulls the strings from the shadows, not front and center in the spotlight.
Similarly, I would think Musk, Zuckerberg, Cuban etc could hold their own. I may not agree with or want them, but there's no denying those guys are sharp as hell.

Very few know he is a lawyer.
Fewer still know he is a PhD.
He is presented in our media like he's an ex-KGB dumb oaf, instead of a shrewd high IQ adversary.

Trump couldn't find Ukraine on a map.
I'd love Trump to rattle off some US history. It would be a great hour of comedy.

Not really.

After the collapse of the Communist East German government, Putin was to resign from active KGB service because of suspicions aroused regarding his loyalty during demonstrations in Dresden and earlier, though the KGB and the Soviet Army still operated in eastern Germany.
