Anywhere with an actual superintendent will force you to use a putter. I have seen 3 clubs plus putter as the rules. 20 handicaps trying to putt a 40 footer with a wedge will leave a mark.

Why?

I do not understand how that could happen.

Did another 3 club challenge last weekend for 9 holes.

Now I see why some people won't use a wedge to putt. One of my buddies tried it and missed 6 putts inside of 4 feet. Meanwhile he joked that I was going to sell my Scotty collection because I putt just as well with a sand wedge.

Blading a wedge has always been easy for me. On the greens...or otherwise.

Same. I don't practice it, but it's just easy. Wedge is the most upright club in the bag that's not a putter and generally have a straight-ish leading edge. Just hover it and strike the ball in the equator. I don't find it that difficult at all, but some people do.

I actually roll it better with a wedge than the putter a lot of the time. I aim for the middle and try and hit it with top spin.

I made this mistake in a three club tournament a while back.
I went with four iron, 60*, putter.

Ideally should have gone driver/3wood, 8i, putter

8 iron- full swing 148

Pitching wedge- punch shots, up to 115, putting
