You familiar with what was in this fricking bill?
Limit the number crossing and determine asylum eligibility at the border.
Y'all aren't fooling anyone, you just don't want Biden to get any credit for solving the border crisis. How about this, pass this bill, and then go from there? It's better than having nothing. Unless, of course, you want to run for president on the current administration not doing anything. God forbid the other party actually get anything done.
You're just falling for political gamesmanship.

I am saying this without trying to be insulting....are you insane? Serious question.

I don't get it. Are we supposed to be glad now that the government isn't addressing the crisis at the border?
The voters will address the border in November. You are a fool if you think this bill was nothing more than a status quo pat on the back. Nothing would have changed.
Before you say limit border crossings. Imagine believing that shite. Why do they need a bill packed with unrelated items to limit border crossings.

As a matter of fact, it makes things worse, based on the powers it gives to DC courts and Mayorkas.

110 Billion dollar bill and less than 30 billion for the United States. If you think this is a good us of American Tax Dollars then you sir are an idiot. Plus is limited Latin American migrants, 100,000 immigrants from elsewhere could walk across and they would not be counted.

We already have a lot. Biden has enough laws on the books right now to shut down the border.

You are.
You are happy the GOP has killed this bill so you can blame Trump who is not even in office for the current catastrophe at the border.
You sound like you work for an NGO.

They melt over a bill that wasn't going anywhere in the house.
The Republicans finally decided to listen to their constituents. That seems like a good thing. Especially those states that have been impacted. I can't believe Cornyn (TX) would even contemplate voting for this crap.

Flamin Tchoup with his progressive propaganda push. The bill does nothing to limit border crossings and you know that. It provides Ukraine with 4x the $$ Trump had asked to address the US border that your party denied him. Go back to your drag shows on Bourbon Street with the other freaks in your party

What is in this bill that the admin couldn’t do RIGHT NOW if it wanted to?

In a sense, I do. I work for my own company which happens to be non-governmental, and organized.

Solving a "border crisis" he created? Besides, not one penny of any so-called "border bill" should be allocated to Ukraine, so that part is a non-starter.

Biden can use his powers specifically granted under the immigration act to stop all illegal aliens anytime that he wants for any reason he deems necessary until bipartisan legislation can be passed.
"Section 212(f) of the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) gives the President of the United States broad authority to implement immigration restrictions by proclamation. The statute allows the President to suspend the entry of any aliens or of a class of aliens or place restrictions on the entry of a class of aliens temporarily if he or she determines that the entry of such aliens would be detrimental to the U.S. interest."
He doesn't do it because he doesn't want to.
Here's a link, it outlines his powers specifically:
US INS: Immigration and Naturalization Act
And another one:

Hey moron, no, no it's not.
Besides, we don't have "nothing", we have tons of laws in place that will allow us to COMPLETELY shut the border down as well as remove every illegal immigrant from the country.
I say this with all due respect, unless your post was sarcasm, you are one of THE dumbest mtherfkrs on the board.

That's your problem right there. You think everybody is partisan. Everything is a dichotomy, left/right, black/white, right/wrong, Republican/Democrat. It's a simple-minded approach to politics for those who can't grasp nuance and complexities. I have been voting since 1984 and have never been a member of any political party.

Now you're just angry. What the frick does any of that have to do with anything? Bourbon St.? Really?

$110 Billion dollar bill where 60% of it goes to Ukraine? You are a complete clown.

You mean like "pass it to see what's in it?" That worked out great when Nancy did that.
quote:
It's better than having nothing.
You know what would actually solve the border problem, the actual law that exists on the books.
quote:
8 U.S. Code § 1325 - Improper entry by alien
quote:
(a)Improper time or place; avoidance of examination or inspection; misrepresentation and concealment of facts
Any alien who (1) enters or attempts to enter the United States at any time or place other than as designated by immigration officers, or (2) eludes examination or inspection by immigration officers, or (3) attempts to enter or obtains entry to the United States by a willfully false or misleading representation or the willful concealment of a material fact, shall, for the first commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18 or imprisoned not more than 6 months, or both, and, for a subsequent commission of any such offense, be fined under title 18, or imprisoned not more than 2 years, or both.
(b)Improper time or place; civil penalties
Any alien who is apprehended while entering (or attempting to enter) the United States at a time or place other than as designated by immigration officers shall be subject to a civil penalty of—
(1)at least $50 and not more than $250 for each such entry (or attempted entry); or
(2)twice the amount specified in paragraph (1) in the case of an alien who has been previously subject to a civil penalty under this subsection.
Civil penalties under this subsection are in addition to, and not in lieu of, any criminal or other civil penalties that may be imposed.
(c)Marriage fraud
Any individual who knowingly enters into a marriage for the purpose of evading any provision of the immigration laws shall be imprisoned for not more than 5 years, or fined not more than $250,000, or both.
