Not a single fricking one of you people is addressing the main problem of people crossing seeking asylum.

At this point... let them seek asylum elsewhere.

Until such time as we get our border figured out, we can no longer accept asylum seekers.

What are they seeking asylum from, anyways?

That literally has to be one of the, if not the, stupidest comment I've read... possibly ever. Absolutely idiotic.

fricking understatement of the century right there.

The reason there is a crisis at the border is that the government has created the crisis at the border. Addressing it takes no more effort than closing the border, and enforcing the laws we already have.

Why do you want the two items tied together?

I don't.

Why not address the two via separate legislation?

Because this is often how compromises are made in our government, a bill is often drafted with something in it for both parties.

If they are both so critical why would you want debate on one to hold up the other?

I don't. I want federal action at the border, and I don't want to see Ukraine fall to Putin.

It's not "legal" - it's a farce. These people have no valid asylum claims - and it is illegal because they are not using an asylum claim in good faith, and everyone knows it.

and there it is- progressive/TDS talking point.

you're not interested in actually discussing the issue but simply taking the opportunity to espouse your progressive talking points.

Each of his post becomes more idiotic.

It's like he's in a contest with himself.

That's not how the law works.

Pretty sure that would be against the law.

I don't think most of them are. I think it's a pretense to get into the US. So they have to be vetted. Currently, they are allowed in and given a court date. It's my understanding that this bill would end that, and have them vetted at the border.

If we agreed on what addressing the crisis was we’d accomplish anything.

We want to stop illegal immigration.

You want to allow it.

We will fight against the latter no matter how you label it.

That power is given to Mayorkas who can make any determination he wants by simple fiat.

And the only court that anyone can challenge any concerns regarding immigration is shifted to DC via this legislation.

Yea, frick your “moderate” stance.

honest question...what is your proposed solution to this? when there are hundreds of thousands of people, literal hordes, walking to the border claiming asylum status, how do you ever go about determining which ones are being made in good faith? we'd have to have twenty thousand case workers down there trying to sort through it all. i know this, you know this, the entire world knows this. so why do you even bother with his fiction that somehow this is the equivalent of a few poor bastards from east germany tryign to escape to the West? it's so intellectually dishonest that it borders on comical.

I’ve been on this site for 12 years.

Why do guys like you act like you aren’t already well-known?

This would almost be on par with DA claiming he was a moderate and voted for Gary Johnson.

Almost…

that's why I don't engage him in actually discussing the issues. he's not interested.

he's a progressive who only wants to disseminate their talking points. he just needs to be ridiculed because he loves to hear himself argue to make him feel knowledgeable

Yeah but just yesterday there was a significant minority on here calling those who opposed the bill GOPe cucks. He's hardly the first to be confused about this.

It's hard to keep up with what you're supposed to think if you're a populist without someone else frequently telling you.

Because what's supposed to happen in that situation is that those claiming to be seeking asylum are supposed to wait at the border until their claims have been validated.

Like everything else down there, that's being ignored, so the mechanism doesn't work.
