The thing that yall say can't work here, works there.

How many times a week do you ride public transport from work to home?

Then you take the train to the periphery and pick up your car for the days you want to drive somewhere. Parking your car at a hotel probably costs €50-100 anyway.

This is just another one of those threads where the vocal contingent of people who HATE cities and think they are congested, dirty, ugly, crime ridden shitholes are opposed to ANYTHING outside of the status quo.

Are you one of those people complaining about garbage cans being left out a day late?

Next thing you know they’re going to ban PFGs and institute communism

Well I live on the north shore, so zero
I do, however, use the Tammany Trace to ride anywhere I need to go within reason. I'm not starting my truck up when I can hop on my bike and be there in a similar timeframe.

But you did get some virtue signaled, good on you.

To be fair, Paris is all those things. But pedestrian friendly development is still good

Or Soy, which would cause quite the quandary for you.

Oh yea I do not deny that many cities are those things. It's true.
It's just funny when literally ANY measure is proposed to reduce or disincentivize a contributing factor in that, it's opposed vehemently.
"Cities suck and they are ugly shitholes"
"Agree, let's try something different to make them more desirable places to be"
"Nooooo that's communist"

1. How is it virtue signalling to *checks notes* not use something that doesn't exist in my area?
2. I told you that I actually do use the pedestrian facilities that are available, which kind of proves my point

Son, because your daddy wore dresses and had to pay men to cut his grass you missed out on a lot of masculine things.

An individual can have a very outsized impact on local politics and policy simply by being involved, going to city council meetings, and voting.
if a politician wants to by tyrannical marxist, he lives and works right down the street, as opposed to when the federal scum try to do it and it's halfway across a landmass the size of Europe.
this is the way it was supposed to be: let local and state governments, governed by the people, decide their fate, not the long arm, one size fits all federal government.
I think it's a stupid law, but I don't have a problem with it being done like this.

Can we step back and look at what and why this is? If you live in an area with an extremely high population density like Paris, or New York, or London, first off, most people that live in the city dont have a vehicle. the ones that do its probably a scooter. So i can see why it would be reasonable to push out larger vehicles to allow safer travel for scooters and pedestrians. IDK why they just didnt ban then form portions of the cities.
Hell you go to Florence, Italy, no 4 wheel vehicles are allowed in the main part of the city except for deliveries for the businesses.
But hey lets just blame it on "think green".

Get out of here with that perfectly reasonable take.

Nah. I could not tell you who runs our HOA or anything. I'm not a "Karen" by any sane definition of the word.
I have strong opinions regarding urban planning that piss off the hivemind of the OT.
This thread is more about how a small minority of voters have made a huge impact on the city. Just happened that the policy change impacted the large SUVs the OT loves. A perfect storm of a thread for me.
