Pros: City governance is good, schools are pretty good for being just barely suburban or on the edge of a major city. It's relatively high end, police are good, it leans right on local matters. Our part of the city is heavily treed with good topography as it runs along the river.

Cons: It's probably a slight left lean on state/national matters, it can be a bit sterile. There are a good number of well to do Persian families here and a lot (relatively) of Jewish families. Both have their pockets and neighborhoods/schools and they're pretty insular. They're perfectly fine to live around as neighbors, but often not really part of the broader community. Because it's so close in and well run, it's attractive to everyone, good and bad. Like every other decent part of Atlanta with anything to do, people will come from all over the metro and Georgia just to loiter and get into trouble, although we don't have as much of that as Buckhead proper, for example.

Baton Rouge-

Cons : my first wife locked my arse down here because she did not want to move away from her family.
The city parish govt has declared war on me.
People here treat each other like dirt.
Everyone wants to steal from you.

Pros : LSU football

I like the proximity to New York City and all that NYC has to offer. Shows, food, shopping, entertainment, etc. I don't like the high cost of living, the taxes, and, in many instances, the people here suck, especially the closer you get to Philly. Eventually we'll make it back to North Carolina where we belong.

Like: plenty of outdoor activities, great restaurants, no crime, close to Denver/DIA

Don’t like: super liberal, traffic, influx of students

I’ve always liked north Georgia/SW North Carolina.

like- love my neighborhood, the light traffic, my kids school and my friends and like my job

hate- much of the population is poor and uneducated like much of louisiana. hate how certain parts of the city look like the hurricane was yesterday, hate the lack of development at times(much of that is due to only having a metro population of 200k) and hate the litter.

overall a place is what you make of it and there will be trade offs. Sure i would love the development of lafayette, especially south Laffy, but then i would have to deal with that traffic. all trade offs.

How long you live in LC baw?
Grew up there and would never have traded for anything else. Of course that was 60s/70s and then moved away for college.

Couldn’t live there now. Still have family there but not the same.

Like: scenery, lack of people, endless outdoor activity
Dislike: sometimes it is absurdly cold and the food sucks. Remote living makes some conveniences not so convenient

Florence County, SC

Low cost of living. Quiet. Hour from MB, almost 2 hours from Charleston, and 3 1/2 to 4 hours from the mountains. Great hunting and fishing spots. Very little Northerners.

Dislike: Limited on options to do things with family local. Bad roads.

East Tennessee: I like the four distinct seasons.
I once liked the isolation. Now too many Californians and New Yorkers polluting the state, trying to escape WOKEISM.
