Most: Festivals and restaurants, family all here or in BR, can make every LSU and Saints game, short drive to beach

Least: LaToya, dodging bullets, roaches, and weather

We live in NELA in West Monroe.

PROs: The public school system is pretty good. Stay away of WMHS.
My daughter's going to WOHS to avoid WMHS.
Our hood is clean, we like our neighbors and lack of trashy cars and yards in our hood.
WMT, Brookeshires, Target and Sams are easily reachable.
We can get broadband thats pretty decent. Pecanland Mall needs to close or at least get rid of bus service at night and entirely on weekends.

CONs>: highly humid WX most of the time. It rains enough to make it more humid but not enough to cool down.
However hurricanes don't do much to us, no volcanic activity or few earthquake events.

Montgomery County Tx (North of Houston)

Pros:
Clean, strong economy, good parks, all the shopping and eating you could need without having to go into Houston, good healthcare options, good schools, family oriented, festivals and events. HEB. Minimal crime,

Cons:
Parts of the county are being rapidly over-developed and are being over populated, parts of the county have awful traffic, some of the new people moving out are causing a shift in the political landscape and culture,

If I could start in a new area I think I would lean Coastal MS. Many of the pros would carry over and maybe less of the cons. People aren’t flocking to Mississippi like they are Greater Houston so that works in my favor. Being closer to the NWFL beaches would be nice

Youngsville, positives- lack of crime.

Negative- too close to new iberia. Eventually the crime will make it's way here.

Pros: good quiet neighborhood, close to everything (COSTCO, restaurants, Aldi, Albertsons, gym)

Cons: traffic, 3.5 hours from hunting property in North LA

How long you live in LC baw?
Grew up there and would never have traded for anything else. Of course that was 60s/70s and then moved away for college.

Couldn’t live there now. Still have family there but not the same.

You can’t tell me that you enjoy the cuisine of the Northern Rockies. Maybe Boise has a bit more to offer than any city in Montana, but generally, the only thing I really would give a positive superlative to around here is the quality of steak, game, and freshwater fish.

I live in a condo complex south of LSU on River Road.

Likes: Being in close proximity to campus for football, basketball and baseball games, access to the levee, the Lakes, Highland Road Park and downtown for running and riding my bike, nice restaurants, the church I attend and festivals.

Dislikes: amount of crime, traffic, condition of roads, a lot of the residents in the complex are students who are trashy and drivers.

I have always wanted to live close to the beach and, now that I work from home, will probably move sometime after the 2024 football season.

By gym you mean Reds right? That’s by far a top pro for living in Lafayette. Paradise

Like:
-scenery, sunshine, weather (high desert so not nearly as hot as Phoenix in the summer)
- can be in the mountains, at the river, or total isolation in the desert in 20 minutes
- small town but large enough to find most things you need
- cheap living
- low crime
- no traffic

Dislike:
- an hour away from the closest city of any size and that city is Tucson
- few decent restaurants other than Mexican
- no nightlife to speak of

Overall, I can't complain, and the things I dislike like long drives to get anywhere or no nightlife are trade-offs necessary for the things I like (isolation, no traffic...)
