Wrong. Markion of Sinope published the first Christian New Testament including 10 letters attributed to Paul - what he called the “Apostolikon”, and the gospel of the Lord - what he called the “Evangelikon”. He published his NT including his prologue called the “Antithesis” where he makes the claim that he didn’t make it all up, but that it was Paul’s gospel. He also specifically calls out scripture that stood in opposition to his own, namely the Jewish Old Testament. He released his NT in 144CE.
In 180CE a church father named Irenaeus wrote a paper called “Against Heresies”. You see, for the first 20 years or so of Marcion’s spreading his NT he was in high regard to the Church of Rome and made substantial donations. When Markion started preaching that Jesus was the son of God, and that the Hebrew god of the Old Testament was an evil and ignorant creator god called the “Demiurge”, he was kicked out of Rome (Rome later excommunicated Markion after his death). In Irenaeus’ writing, released 46 years after Markion released “Paul’s” gospel, Irenaeus heavily criticizes Markion, his gospel, and his theology. In this writing by Irenaeus, in 180CE, it is the first time any church father makes a reference to a gospel other than the one Markion published. It is in 180CE that we have evidence of the very first time “Mark” “Matthew” and “Luke” were mentioned.
In summary, many scholars assign Markion as the very first written gospel, and the others are derived from Markion later in response to Markion being kicked out of the church around 165CE. So you see, a liberal dating of the canonical gospels is mid/late second century.

My atheist nutjob alert goes off whenever "CE" is used or you watched too much History Channel growing up.

This show?
*And yes, 'Charlie' is Lucifer's daughter. Of course.
They're not even attempting cleverness or to hide anything.

And Marcion was the creator of the 2nd century heresy known as Marcionism. Early church fathers such as St. Justin Martyr, St. Irenaeus of Lyons, and Tertullian called him a heretic for rejecting the God of the Old Testament, taking a polytheistic approach to Christianity, and proclaiming that St. Paul was the only true apostle of Christ. He was excommunicated for his beliefs by the Church in Rome in the year 144.

Even the most secular of New Testament scholars have abandoned this position as older manuscripts of the gospels have been found throughout Europe, Africa, and Asia Minor. P90 for instance, a piece of papyrus from the Gospel of John, is dated to as early as the year 110.

Cancel Prime. I did for less when they chose to defile Tolkien's work.
But hey, I'm sure there are many Christians, Jews and Muslims who can still find quality content and keep paying for this and more shows like it.

Gotta love people who know nothing of the Bible throwing Biblical quotes, texts and stories as gotchas. They always prove they are the fool.

I don’t guess you read much or have much mental capacity so I’ll help you out.
“Common Era” and “Before Common Era” was coined by German mathematician and scientist, Johannes Kepler, in the early 1600s while teaching at his Christian seminary school. BCE and CE are now universal across all countries and religions when speaking of dates on the Gregorian calendar. So you see, BCE and CE was invented by a Christian seminary teacher, is based on the christian calendar, it has become universal.

The way I heard it, the expression “god is in the details” was used by early scientist in Europe. As most (all?) of them were Christian scholars, naturalists, curious about the finer workings of the Almighty.
Somewhere along the line, as more and more got into the expanding field of science, that expression got flipped.
‘Devil is in the details’ became widely used, thanks in part to some guy named…Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche.
Interesting.

You are deluded or in denial. It is a fact that some legitimate biblical scholars assert a Markion gospel priority. I won’t argue if they are right or wrong, but nevertheless the “most liberal dating” of the gospels is in the late second century.
Example 1
Example 2
You’ve got to face the fact that some scholars believe Marcion came first and the others as redacted edited copies came later.
quote:
And Marcion was the creator of the 2nd century heresy known as Marcionism.
Did you ever think that your New Testament is based on the work of Marcion the heretic? Scholarly consensus is that Marcion was the very first church father to create a Christian canon, and he compiled the letters of Paul that are in your Bible. So when you read Romans and Ephesians and Corinthians and Thessalonians be sure to thank Marcion.
quote:
Justin Martyr
Wrote that Jesus was a created angel and was subordinate to God the father.
quote:
St. Irenaeus of Lyons
A heretic
quote:
Tertullian
Another heretic - major supporter of Montanism
quote:
taking a polytheistic approach to Christianity
Justin Martyr, Irenaeus, and Tertullian were polytheists. They were not trinitarian. They believed Jesus was a divine being and godlike but not God. Look it up.
quote:
P90 for instance, a piece of papyrus from the Gospel of John, is dated to as early as the year 110.
P90 dated paleographically to late second century
quote:

This is a lie. There hasn’t been one confirmed copy of any gospel dating to before Marcion released his gospel around 140CE.
ETA: to be clear about my last comment: there were (heretical by modern Christian standards) church fathers who alleged and asserted that the other gospels predated Marcion’s version. Also weak evidence, that isn’t proof. It is a fact that the first ever writing by a church father to mention the other gospels was from around 180CE, around 40 years after Marcion published the first Christian New Testament. It is a fact that there has been no fragment of a gospel found that predates Marcion’s gospel. Maybe one day one will be found, but so far we have not found any.

Of course you do realize the serpent in Genesis was… just a serpent,
NO. (Gnosticism = Satanic Deception / Inversion of Truth)
Satan took the form of a Serpent and clearly Satan beguiled Eve into disobeying the Lord.
quote:
that corrected Yahweh Elohim’s lie that Adam would die the very day should he eat the fruit of the tree of knowledge.
Wait a minute; So according to your heretical Gnostic-Luciferian accounts of "Truth", God the father and Creator is...a LIAR? (and I suppose the Gnostic "truth" is the Serpent-Satan is instead "The Way, Truth, and Life"??)
(The real reasons you remain deceived and blinded to the Truth of Holy Scripture):
2 Corinthians 4:4
The god of this age [Lucifer-Satan] has blinded the minds of unbelievers so they cannot see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
And this (among several Scripture tracts):
1 Corinthians 1:18-19
The message of the cross is foolish to those who are headed for destruction! But we who are being saved know it is the very power of God. As the Scriptures say, “I [God] will destroy the wisdom of the wise and discard the intelligence of the intelligent.”
So you see Friend, unless you un-harden your prideful heart, humble yourself and yield your spirit to Jesus Christ, you shall never be able to discern and understand the spirit & meaning of Truth in the Bible (no matter how many times you read it.)

And what is the defining event between BCE and CE? Oh, it's the birth of Christ? I'll be damned. So the use of BCE and CE is a solution in need of a problem. I guess the problem being how to make history more secular? BC and AD worked just fine for millennia, and still does to this day.

It's interesting to me to see how much time and effort SM puts into these threads.
