NOLA restaurant to show tourists friends a different part of the city

Looking for a rec for a casual to mid-range New Orleans restaurant to take some visiting friends, away from the typical Fr Quarter/CBD/Warehouse Dist area. Not a fried seafood joint. Somewhere with a good atmosphere where we can have a cocktail and they can have some food you'd only find in New Orleans. So far I am considering Pascal's Manale, Chaise Delachaise, Bouligny Tavern. Boucherie would be perfect but not open Sunday night. Wife does not like Mandina's so that is out.

Katie's in Mid City. Brigtsen's uptown. Clancy's Uptown

Just realized how poor I am if you consider this mid-range
Chaise Delachaise is a good shout for Uptown. Not a far walk from Oak Street if you want to catch a band at the Maple Leaf Bar as well. Although not sure how the atmosphere will be on a Sunday night.

Mandinas is a can’t-miss spot. Old school neighborhood joint. Great food. Great service. Good atmosphere. You can take the streetcar if you’d like or park there in their parking lot.
For dessert, go over to Angelo Brocato’s.

BR's Velvet Cactus and Rum House closed.
That being said, The Rum House on Magazine is pretty great.

Hi, would you please consider Gris-Gris?
This may be exactly what you are looking for.

That's a good suggestion. I really enjoyed it.
I had the name first, though.

If someone brought me to Velvet Cactus I don’t think I’d ever trust them again.
