Bobby Hebert's Cajun Cannon is another good spot in Metairie. Not cheap but reasonable for a special event.

If it were up to me, I'd take them to Mandina's. But wife does not like it. She somehow thinks a huge fried soft shell crab or trout covered in meuniere sauce atop a bed of hot, greaseless fries is "too heavy." Women!
Between Sunday night closures, booked restaurants and wife's pickiness, I tossed my original parameters and we are going to Peche. On the plus side, it's right by my friends' hotel and they love seafood.

This board is amazing. Some great recs.
I would have fallen for drinks at Patios then walk over to Clancy’s.
Peche will be awesome. I hear that their Mexican style steak is really good if you don’t want seafood.

As long as you realize Peche isn’t representative of typical New Orleans cuisine. Good? Yes. Also can be very loud.
I think Restaurant Rebirth or Galliano would have been a better fit if they were available and you were going to stay in the WD.

Toup's Meatery, Brigtsen's, Clancy's, Katie's, and Station 6 are good suggestions. I also like Cibo and Bourree on Carrollton. Jacques-Imo's and Oak Street Brewery are very close to each other and two places I like too.

I was never huge on the food there, but their frozen daiquiris are unique and refreshing compared to the usual sugary ones you’ll get elsewhere.

I simply do not understand. It is meh food at best, horribly overpriced, and even the margs aren't that good anymore.

Decades ago (80s) was in Rocky's with another couple. Woman behind the counter making sanwiches, has a lit cigarette dangling from her lips, and an oil dripping towel through her waist band. Another guy behind the counter walks up to her and says something in her ear. To which she responds by grabbing the oil drenched towel from her waist band, throwing it forciby on the ground, removing the cigarette from her lips and throwing it on the towel and then grinding it with her shoe: "frick all you all, I fricking quit!" My buddy looks at me and says, "Oh gee, the floor show started!"

Just went there recently too and loved it. The appetizers steal the show especially the wings but all the food was good.
