Female lead Mary Sue science genius?

And the greatest "threat" is something that represents traditional values.

Ho-hum. Retire these assholes already.

Eta: Apparently this is a book trilogy...at least it's completed.

Not in the least, idiot. Where did you get "traditional values" in this trailer?

None of that is remotely accurate at all.

I was always hesitant to start the books because they were described as incredibly dense and complex with multiple threads. Wonder how Netflix, who gives up on series a lot, is going to handle it.

I've read the trilogy, the storyline and concept is great.

My problem with the books is that it didn't really make you care about any of the characters. I think it's because it was written by a Chinese author and translated. There was just no depth or complexity in 99% of the characters.

Hopefully the show fixes that while staying true to the story itself.

It is incredibly dense. Amazon actually has a Chinese version of the show already made and it’s 30 one hour episodes for season 1. Probably still had to cut stuff out

Looks interesting, trailer looks like it's multiple movies. Which isn't surprising given the title. Don't know the source material, don't plan on checking it out.

I may check this out, and glad to see my man Davos from GoT getting work. Although I am already hesitant to participate in the thread discussions since Ham said he read the books.

I've read the first book, and it's pretty damn good. This description, while technically accurate, is so far removed from the actual story focus that it's misleading. Ye Wenjie is not the main character of the story, a male is. This is stupid SJW pandering here with the show's description, and it's completely unnecessary.

If they stick to the book then this could be a very good series. If they do indeed try to SJW this thing then they will completely frick this up. Let's hope they stick to the book.

Maybe take two seconds to read up on something before you copy and paste these dumb arse comments.

They are some of the more highly acclaimed sci fi books in recent memory. Outside of Foundation and Dune, they're my wifes favorite sci fi books of all time.

I was excited for it until this thread, I had no idea Dumb and Dumber were the show runners. Ugh.

I have no interest in giving those two any viewership. If I were Netflix, I'd be trying to bury the fact that D&D worked on this

3 Body Problem (The full trilogy is called Remembrance of Earth's Past) is one of my favorite Sci Fi book series after Dune.

It really isn't that dense as far as science and physics goes. The books do a really good job of explaining it all to the reader.

The one thing that throws a lot of people off are the Chinese names in the book, and it can take a moment to remember who is who.

I want the Netflix series to be good, but I don't think the books will translate well to a western TV series.

Read the trilogy over the summer and it’s now my favorite series ever. It’s going to be hard to put to screen, though. The 3rd book gets really out there and deep into astrophysics, and the timeline of the series spans thousands of years. Also, 90% of the characters in the book were Chinese so it’s going to be weird seeing American actors play most the roles
