Vividly recall it as a kid. It was actually one of the more highlighted points of the Tiger Stadium experience. No doubt added to the intimidation factor for the LSU fan's point of view. The void that factor left today has been filled with crap.

Ronnie Lott said it made the hair on the back of his neck stand up, 1979!

One of the best and most awesome traditions in college football. No one wants to standup against stupid groups like PETA. It is easier just give in. Why does a Buffalo or a Longhorn still allowed to run on the football field?

was there for that one.. sitting front row in the student section.. fun times in the then called “Assembly Center”…

Tell me you were wearing one of those "Front Row Lunatics" shirts for that game! I remember seeing a group of students wearing those on TV during LSU b-ball games from around 1981 to 1984.

A previous post mentioned the USC-LSU game in 1979...USC had an amazing collection of talent on that team. Marcus Allen was the second best tailback on the team so they moved him to fullback! Brad Budde, who would play several Sundays and the son of a Super Bowl winner said that Tiger Stadium made all other stadiums seem like "Romper Room"...Dr. Sheldon Bivin was Mike's vet for years and he would accompany Mike to the games with his Vet School students to monitor Mike...and they would park Mike by the visitors locker room...which, by itself was a freakin' dump!

don’t need stupid fireworks when LSU runs out if it means Mike can be in the stadium.

It still amazes me that people clamor for it to return so much. I saw it many times growing up.

It’s a tiger in a cage that no one could even actually see. I’ve never found myself thinking “man, I wish I could watch that moving Gerry Lane ad and the tiger cage move around the stadium again”.

Bring him out on a leash and you’ll have my attention.

The best part was when they had the cage right at the tunnel of the visitor locker room. You could hear old Mike all over the stadium from that side. I was young and it scared the shite out of me that he might get out

2009 Arkansas. Military appreciation jerseys. White with purple shades of Camo for the numbers.

No. The jerseys were white, but there was no camo. Those were the ‘old’ gold helmet unis.

I can’t think that LSU has ever had camo on their unis. Closest would maybe the the one offs from 2018 that had oak leaves in the numbers.

Bring it back! Tiger tradition. Parked right in front of the visiting teams locker room.

Best attraction in the stadium was Mike in the cage and the hot arse cheerleaders riding on top of his cage.

You can barely see the animal, LOL! Some of you are romanticizing this big time.

Be happy we've got a tiger and leave him the hell alone. There are things more important that you getting your jollies for a minute.

Not bringing Mike into the stadium is not really about PETA. It’s about being a sanctuary so that we can replace Mike when he dies.

The days of being able to just go out and buy a tiger are long gone.

Am in the old-enough-to-have-seen real Mike on the field at TS & fake Mike drop from the Deaf Dome ceiling crowd.

1979. USC game. Players came out the tunnel and Mike was right there as they came out roaring his arse off. The USC players liked to crap their pants. Was hilarious to watch them run by that cage fearing for their lives.
