I tried that a while back and got tired of the replacements of items that I ordered. This became a regular thing so I cancelled.

You can request NO REPLACEMENTS, or you can piecemeal it. I let them replace milk, eggs, but if I want a certain brand or flavor of something I click on no replacement for that particular item. If out of milk quarts I don’t care if it’s a gallon, or 2% instead, of 1%, or xl eggs instead of large… ice cream, cheese, soup, items I may be brand specific, I prefer to go without rather than get an icky substitution.
That really is not a problem unless your Walmart consistently runs out of stuff, or you allow subs.

I had the same issue with replacements when I did InstaCart a few times. I honestly think the shoppers were unfamiliar with some of the items and just marked them as out of stock, because there's no way that many items were out of stock at a store like Sprouts.
I don't have that issue doing Whole Foods delivery, I assume because the shoppers aren't 3rd party shoppers, and the tech is probably better to help them locate things.

As one of the resident poor people on this site, I have worked for Walmart delivery for a year as a second income.
The usual pay for delivering a grocery order is $7.30. That includes me driving to the store, personally shopping for your items, or sitting in the waiting area for 30 minutes for them to load the order in my car. Then I get to drive however far it is to your house, get out in the heat, cold and rain and run your groceries to your door. So by the time I am done, I have spent about an hour of gas and working to make $7.30 for you to be able to not leave your comfy house and still get your groceries.
But you think that I don’t deserve a tip for that?
Just as an example, during Thanksgiving, I had an order that took me 9 separate trips from the car to the door on the third floor of an apartment complex with no elevator. And I was blessed with a customer like you that decided I didn’t do enough for a tip.
And as a side note I am against the whole new tipping for everything society we have created but this is definitely a job that deserves it.

And before the "you're cheap" comments rain down. I do tip at least 20 percent or more for good dine in service at restaurants. But I am very anti tipping for take out or counter service.
No you don’t.

You know why people complain about "tipping culture"? Because you're too big of a pussy to just say no or choose the no tip option.
It only exists because the majority of people are tipping instead of just not doing it if they don't want to.

You can't spare an extra $5 to someone doing the things you are too lazy to do?

Yet, you acknowledge signing up for a service that is precisely that? Weird.

You think it’s crazy to tip someone who drives to the store, shops for your specific items, texts you about replacements when your items aren’t available, loads them into their car, drives them to you then unloads them at your house?
That’s more work than any server in a restaurant.

Yes, the app takes a large cut from the restaurants. Margins on food are thin.
Especially DoorDash and Uber Eats. They absolutely rape restaurants. That's why you see different prices on those apps for the same menu items.
It is the same, but to a lesser extent, for most online pickup orders. Most restaurants charge a dollar or two more for every item when the order is placed online. The Chinese joint we order from splits the cost with the customer (customer pays a dollar and the restaurant pays a dollar). Phone orders are the same price as dine-in, I'd just rather order online for the convenience.
Basically, if you're ordering online or an app, you are paying more no matter where you eat. It seems we have at least a thread a week with someone finally realizing this.

Must be a ton of Walmart delivery drivers in here. Not my fault they signed up for a WallyWorld job that doesn't pay them the wage they want.

Nobody is making you do it.

On Uber Eats and DoorDash, the "service fees" go to the restaurant.

At first I thought Wal-Mart employees shopped the items and these third party people just delivered them
Sometimes yes, sometimes no. The third-party people do the shopping when Walmart cannot keep up.

Use the store pick up at Walmart.
I guess I am too picky. I didn’t like their substitutions a couple of times so I went back to shopping myself.

Spark driver here. It's pretty simple, we can tell who tips and who don't. Like it was stated above, you are basically bidding for me.
It is my responsibility to accept your bid or not.
So, you ask, what am I tipping for? I shop your order; I deliver your order in my vehicle using my gas. I load and unload your stuff.
I save you time and money. I cut down on your impulse shopping.
We are in agreement. You don't want to tip for service, and I don't want to give it to you without a good bid.
Cut and dried: Pony up or go get the shite yourself

News flash… Costco and Amazon deliveries use third party deliveries.
