Too bad and puzzling that Andy Griffith was a flaming liberal in real life.
And an a-hole from what I've heard.

I have probably watched all the episodes a dozen times. Time spent watching those or watching TCM is better spent than the time one might spend watching a politician or a political talk show.

How long would Barney be alive with only one bullet in the shining cities of Baton Rouge or New Orleans?

He'd probably shoot himself by accident.
Did he ever shoot his gun on purpose?

he had to qualify in one episode, so yes. and he might have shot a blank at a foot race

there isn't a better show about parenting than this .
Haven't read the thread so maybe posted. There are no married couples on the Andy Griffith Show. The only reference to a wife is that Otis the town drunk has one.

Wasn't Emmit the fix-it man married?

One of the most frightful movies I've ever seen is Andy Griffith's A Face In The Crowd.

IDK, he was only in a few episodes. They may only have counted wives that made at least one appearance. I think the wife of Otis did show up in one scene but not Emmit's.
Even the Darling family showed up in force with dad, sons and daughters but no wife.
Although Andy was not dating Helen Crump on the show they were having an affair off screen but never got married.

Maybe it was Mayberry R.F.D.
Anyways... all of the people are widowers... personally, I think they had a serial killer on the loose in Mayberry.

You should watch his first movie (black & white) and it seems relevant in these days and times.

Actually, she did. There was a whole episode about their anniversary.
And it's Duke Slater selling them the mink coat.
He's got like... a million credits... and apparently is still acting.

Good find. As for Mayberry RFD mentioned above, I stopped watching in those later years. The writing was starting to get too formulaic.
Same thing happened with the last sitcom I ever watched, Greenacres. In the final year of the show the writing took a huge plunge and when the little kid showed up I signed off and I've never seen a network sitcom since that day.
It's like my buddy Rick Hawkins said when he left Centenary for Hollywood: 'Everyone in Hollywood can act. Nobody in Hollywood can write.'
He was successful as a writer for Vikki Lawrence and some other shows but I never watched his stuff. I liked the guy as a friend but I didn't find his writing that funny.
