Elinor Donahue, who was long rumored to have clashed personally with Andy Griffith, has nothing but kind things to say about her professional relationship with the star.
FWIW, she also was very complimentary of Frances Bavier. Donahue comes across as a very classy lady in this interview.

Didn't see that. But a good example of my problem with formulaic comedy would be cartoon shows.
The Coyote and the Roadrunner is the exact same plot every time.
Then take Rocky and Bullwinkle playing college football when the game plans are replaced with the Battle of Gettysburg plans. Nothing like that has ever been done or will be done again. Totally unique idea. But even great writers run dry on coming up with totally new ideas.
Monty Python probably had the longest run of unique stuff.
It even happens in drama.
Lassie: 'Woof...woof!'
Dad: 'What's that Lassie? Little Timmy is caught in the old mine shaft?'
Lassie: 'Woof...woof!.
Fury (the horse): 'Whinny! Whinny!'
Dad: 'What's that Fury? Little Timmy is caught in the old mine shaft?'
Fury: 'Whinny! Whinny!'
Flipper: 'Quark Quark!'
Dad: 'What's that Flipper? Little Timmy is caught in the old underwater mind shaft?'
Flipper: 'Quark Quark!'

I'm 42 and was raised on Andy Griffith. Still watch reruns most days of the week on TV Land and I refuse to watch any of the color episodes. To me that show ceased to exist once Barney left

Even the Darling family showed up in force with dad, sons and daughters but no wife.
Although Andy was not dating Helen Crump on the show they were having an affair off screen but never got married.
Andy and Helen left Mayberry after getting married in the 1st episode of Mayberry RFD and had a kid in the 1st episode of the 2nd season

Father Knows Best good, too. Used to have Antenna TV channel and watched it often. Amazing how things have changed.

A rather non threatening topic about a show that actually taught moral values and entertained. Appears to have brought back memories
On a side note and I just remembered this while typing, my parents were friends with Richard O Linke who apparently was Griffiths manager and produced 200 episodes and apparently a number of spin-offs
He was stationed with my mom and dad during the war

The cast hated Aunt Bee. She thought she was gonna become a big dramatic movie star and was always bitching. The most popular cast member off stage was Floyd the Barber. That's why they accommodated him with seated scenes after he had a stroke.
Floyd's hesitating speech pattern was him copying the voice of the barber in radio's Amos and Andy. That character never made it to the TV version of Amos and Andy.
