He said she called and apologized for her behavior during the run before she passed. I read stories about how she hated all of them joking around and telling off color jokes and pranking each other.

The colorized ones are almost unwatchable since she became a more prominent character after Barney left and Floyd is struggling in every scene he's in. And who the hell thought Howard Sprague was a good character to take a main role?

I have a weird theory about that show. First off, Andy Griffith was a huge Lib. With that in mind, look at the show through that political lens, in that particular timeframe of American culture. The show isn’t celebrating southern culture and its people. It’s making fun of them. It’s basically the Hollywood vision of a typical southern town with no minorities, populated by a bunch of dumb rubes who tend to be suspicious of outsiders. The show is so well done and so beloved that no one ever picks up on it.

I'm not arguing, but ironically his standup comic & beach bum episodes are probably the best color ones

A couple were colorized... The Christmas Story and The Pickle Story.

Rascal Flats was a turruble
band, but Mayberry is a catchy song-

quote:

Sometimes it feels like this world's spinning faster
Than it did in the old days
So naturally, we have more natural disasters
From the strain of a fast pace
Sunday was a day of rest
Now, it's one more day for progress

Probably never saw an entire episode of this, tho it seemed decent. Before my time. But me Mom taught our cockatiel the theme song :).

Compelled to chime just this past year I finally learned of his movie A Face in the Crowd. Unnerving, the manipulation of the masses.

I'm sure most small southern towns bore a resemblance to Mayberry in the 60s and they're still better places to live and raise a family than big cities.

Yeah, colored was the term I should have used. I usually can't turn them off fast enough. I have AG channel on Pluto on all the time but skip a couple days when those roll around.

He was pretty much a commie, as was the grandpa from the Waltons. Actually that guy was a commie and a pervert.
