Just finished the movie
Amazing setup
Dogshit, lazy ending
Absolute waste of time, wouldn’t reccomend this to anyone. It’s a piece of shite movie.
And yes, I get all the social messages this movie preaches. It still fricking sucks

It just didn't connect as apocalyptic.
That's why it should have been a series.
They're on day 3 or so of the apocalypse, reality was just setting in for them as the movie ended. We need more.

The ending was perfection.
Spoilers.
The girl found the bunker that ensures their future, while also giving her closure on the past by finishing her series. Her world is completely changed from here on out.
I don't think most of you would have a problem if this was a series and season 2 would follow up next year. Hopefully they decide to follow this and give us more

The racial bullshite ruined it for me. “You especially can’t trust white people.” Lol frick Hollywood. Ethan Hawke also plays a giant cuck husband.

It was terrible. Julia Roberts dancing? The whole "oh the animals are trying to tell us something " was stupid. Don't waste your time on this turd.

This. Also the ending just didn’t do it for me.

I'm not gonna bother watching it, but I'm curious if they blamed racism as the cause for the apocalypse, or was the end of the world just a background event for a story about racism?

are half movie reviews the new big thing?

We just finished watching this. Pretty good flick. The unsung star of this flick is Myha'la Herrold's pokey little chocolate drops. We'll be building a house here in the next few years, and have been discussing a doomsday shelter type of thing in the basement. A functional space, but also something that can be locked down if need be. Post pandemic, might be best to be prepared.

Watched it last night. I enjoyed it even though it felt like it missed a chance to be a much better movie. It builds up like there is gong to be a big payoff and you just don’t get it. And there’s some other lazy shite along the way.

They spent maybe a minute or two on race in this movie. Anyone bent out of shape about it is too sensitive.

I agree. While I like the ending, it left you wanting more. This easily could've been a series. This was an all-star cast from the 90's! lol
The animal thing was never explained. Left a lot out there, but worth the time investment. Very few "awesome" movies these days....

Thought the movie itself was really good, great suspense I thought, until the end which has become the expected norm for this style of Netflix original.
I get some of the point of the ending, but it’s annoying to spend over 2 hours in suspense and invested in the characters for it to end with the main driver of the plot completely unresolved. If there’s going to be a “part 2” fine, I’ll gladly watch, but if this is a stand alone the end pisses me off.

Not really. The racism angle was that white people (white "Karen" mom in this case) can be racist against black people. Even super wealthy black people who are far above her social and economic class. The white dad was portrayed as a hapless, clueless cuck. Obviously the mom saw the error of her ways and eventually tried to bang the super wealthy black man.

Ethan Hawke was a City College professor, so not really surprising that he would be pretty useless given the situation. He knows he's useless. The daughter was definitely into him, though, otherwise she wouldn't have asked him if he fricked his students. Julia Roberts apologized for her initial reaction to black strangers showing up in the middle of the night. Not really a big deal. There was a mutual attraction between her and black Dad. Did you catch the part where it was implied that his wife was a white woman?

No, it was just the little bitch daughter. Had they left her out of the movie, it would have been really good. She took a really good movie down to just ok.
Miss chip on her shoulder is as priveleged as anyone could be but she’s worried about the white people. GTFO!

Just watched this and i thought it was amazing. The build up was great, loved the way it was filmed. Acting was top notch.

The race stuff was very mild compared to just about any other movie or tv show these days. Didn’t read the book to know if race was a large component to the narrative, but got the impression that the racial aspects were just shoehorned in because nothing can go out without some sort of messaging regardless of how superfluous.
Because I had heard the ending sucked I had very low expectations and was actually okay with the ending. Wouldn’t hate if they picked up where they left off with a sequel. But highly doubt they will. It doesn’t appear to be about the post apocalypse but rather illustrating just how fragile we are as a society.
