They have a capable backup and the HC really likes him. A month to prepare on the plays that he can execute well, with a bunch of dawgs determined to not let him fail? Who knows?

Ohio St won it all with the 3rd stringer. The Eagles beat Tom Brady with a backup.

Fla St can beat you in as many ways as anyone.

FSU’s SOR was ahead of Bama. The SOS argument holds little weight since another metric of that has FSU ahead lol.

Did you say the same thing when JT Barrett went down and Cardale Jones came in and mudstomped Bama for their title?

Thats just an excuse for the committee to get Bama in.

Exactly.

There is no objectivity. They just "decided."

Then they should have been dropped in the rankings three weeks ago.

Then why wait until today to drop them. They actually moved up.

Maybe FSU should have scheduled tougher competition
LSU, Miami, Florida. 3 power five teams that are traditionally very good teams. Alabama only had 1 power five team Texas. But hey they beat middle Tennessee, USF, and Chattanooga.

13-0 has to matter. The play on the field has to matter. this is not a beauty pageant this is actual sports.

Why? Acc is weakest conference. Look at ranked acc teams and who they beat. Take out LSU and their opponents record is 58-73. That's pretty bad. That is a really weak conference. Who you beat does matter. Does lsu win championship without burrow? Does fsu go undefeated without Travis? Use critical thinking. Sheesh this is not more deserving. This is about 4 best teams.

So the message is - if your star gets hurt, your season is over - even if you win all of your games?

Star QB basically yes.

Which sucks bc FSU has studs all over the field. I feel for those kids.

6-4 vs the SEC this year.

FSU played LSu and Florida, Bama lost to Texas and played three little sisters of the poor teams..

How’d Clemson avoid this sort of scrutiny and blowback during their decade or so run?

Did you just start keeping up with the rankings this week? Fla St has been ranked highly all season. Start to finish. They were ranked 4 coming into this weekend. Now all the sudden their schedule isn’t tough enough? Come on man.

That's the truth. Had Free Shoes University curb stomped Louisville last night they'd be in the playoff.

How do you judge the best teams?

Teams that go undefeated?

Teams with a deep enough roster to win two games without a great starter?

I mean why even play? This is frustrating
this. For all we know FSU backup could light it up with a month worth of practice.

The committee made a huge assumption instead of just looking at facts

Football is still a team sport.... One player doesn't make a team... Games must be played....etc.

You keep posting this but fact is, this has nothing to do with the decision. FSU has been ranked highly all season. They were 4th coming into this weekend.

The fact that they won those 2 games, despite losing their Heisman candidate starting QB, is more of a reason they should be in the playoffs. It wouldn’t have mattered had they lost those games. People expected them to lose and they didn’t.
