Yeah, I've never understood why they time guys in track cleats instead of football uniforms at the combine.

Continued...

here Daniels it at the 35 and about to make the jump to lightspeed. Castell has just passed the 36 but is still inside the numbers. 8 or 9, not sure who, is trying to get deep, but still just at the 41. Lacy continues to kill that poor dude

Daniels passes Castell by the 40. 8/9 is at the 45, but still in the center of the field. Lacy continues his UFC audition on that poor Gator

Daniels beats Castell to the 50, 8 is only 2 yds deeper but still almost in the middle of the field, and Lacy decides to let his victim live.

This is an impressive image... Daniels not only has 2 strides on Castell, he looks back at him as he crosses the 40. 8 still thinks he can make a play, while at the bottom of the screen Lacy tells his new Gator bitch "that dude's fast"

Last upload (ESPN fades to another angle after this), Jayden has now caught up with #8 and actually turns towards him, I think fricking with him. Lacy continues to enjoy the moment

Looking at those stills of the run, I am impressed by our WRs on that play, too. Go back and look; Nabers both walls off his corner, and takes out 1 safety when Daniels plays his block correctly.

Lacy absolutely destroys the nickel.

And Thomas Jr just outruns the other corner (8), he passes him by around the 30 and gets in front of him, preventing him from making a play near the goal line.

Just my estimate: 4.45 forty, 10.85 100m, ~22 200m, 49 400m.

If he trained as a track athlete, 10.2 100m, ~20.9 200m, 46.5 400m.

Track shape and football shape are pretty different.

His first step and change of direction is elite. JD would make a phenomenal point guard in basketball. He is probably the best raw talent point guard on campus right now. More talented than anybody on the current basketball roster.

JD running Saturday night looked like a video game where someone had the cheat code.

Bo ran a 4.13 electronically times pre draft 40 at Auburn in front of scouts. Faster than Trindon . Bo never went to the NFL out of college as some remember.

No CFB player has clocked an official time faster than Trindon. Trindon has an official 10.00 100m in a ncaa meet. Jeff Demps is second at 10:01. There are boucoo track guys with times faster than that but they didnt play CFB.

LSU has had a whole page on this story in the T&F media guide for years. I am not aware of any CFB player who has matched or beat Trindon’s mark yet.

This!

Jerry Rice ran like a 4.7 40. Put on pads and nobody was catching him.

No dumbass it was 98 at 46. He freaking threw a no hitter at 44.
Here is 85 in boots, slacks and a tucked in shirt at 63 after throwing his arm out. LINK
I forget they didn’t time pitches in the 90’s or threw 2010. Sorry.

Jackson recalls that it was an electronically-timed 4.13 during what would or could be considered a regional combine or expanded pro day that Auburn hosted. According to Jackson, numerous prospects from several colleges attended. He said that it took place in the indoor bubble at Auburn, there was electronic tape at the start that triggered the clock, and that there was a laser at the finish line of the 40-yard dash. "The coaches asked me, they said, 'Bo, we have a bunch of pro scouts here, and it's 40-yard dash time, they're having a little combine, why don't you come in and run a 40 for them, because they really came here in hopes to get you to run a 40 for them,'" Jackson recalled. "'I'm on my way to track practice, I'll be running for the next two hours.' 'Just come in and appease these people, just come in and run 40 for them.'" The Heisman Trophy winner said that there wasn't enough room for him to run the distance properly. He didn't want to injure himself. According to Jackson, he pulled up with 10 yards to go. His first attempt came in at 4.3. "'They said, what if we open the back door?' My coach had come up to me and said, 'Give these guys what they want, run through the tape, and go on out the door, you don't have to stop, run through the finish line,'" Jackson said. "I waited about five minutes to get my breath, and they had other people. I got down there, and I took off and ran completely through. I just kept going right out the door and didn't come back." For those of us who recall Jackson running through the tunnel at the end of a 91-yard touchdown run at the Kingdome in Seattle a year and a half later, this 40-yard dash was a precursor of things to come. After numerous reports of hand-held stopwatch times of 3.9 and 4-flat among the scouts, Jackson said the official timer was consulted. "They asked the guy that was running the electronic timer," Jackson said. "They said, 'The big-eye don't lie; let me see what he got.' The guy said, 'There it is boys — go out and catch him if you can.' It was 4.13." Jackson also confirmed that he did not attend the 1986 NFL Scouting Combine in New Orleans. "I did not go because I was already picked to be the first person to go in the draft," Jackson said. "If you're going to be the first person to go in the draft, why should you go to a combine and do all of that? It wasn't built up like it is now. Now it's a TV production. It's a whole show."

If somebody runs a 4.31 forty, their 100 time should be around 10.3-10.4. JD's stride is and running style is closer to a 400 runner.
