Can we get a Rant explanation of the FG?

On TV, the kick looked good and the crowd thought so. I’m not the guy looking straight up the crossbar, but the explanation that you can’t review a kick that goes over the top of the goalposts. Never heard that explanation before. Maybe college should adopt the NFL stance that all scoring plays are reviewed.

Would love to get the Rants take on that play & call.

Apparently went over the top of the goal post - which is defined as a miss.

Also unreviewable because it was above the goal post…

Field goal attempts if and only if the ball is ruled (a) below or above the crossbar or (b) inside or outside the uprights when it is lower than the top of the uprights. If the ball is higher than the top of the uprights as it crosses the end line, the play may not be reviewed.

The reason the ref is under the upright is so he can see if it is inside of or outside of the upright when it crosses.
It was outside but came in.

If it goes over the top of the post it’s defined as a miss. Per tv announcer
It has to be inside the goal post

As shitty as these refs were yesterday, I trust their integrity for calling anything fair. They called back 2 obvious TDs, then called a bullshite hold that cost us ultimately 30 yards and a missed FG, not to mention Mizzou clearly flinched and that no-call.

ALL scores, like the NFL should be reviewed considering how pathetic this SEC officiating crew was.

They should put a beam across the top and just make it a rectangle then.

I don’t think he made it, I think it crossed right over the goal post.

That being said, why is that not reviewable? Seems like an obvious call to review and easy to do as well.

Which is bullshite because if the ball crosses on top the pylon in the corner then it's a TD. If the smallest tip of the ball touches the white of the endzone line it's a TD but a field goal ball has to be completely inside if it passes above???

bullshite

if the ball touches the tip of the goalie and runner gets pushed backwards it's a TD
if the ball hits the upright and bounces backwards it's a miss.

the rule states it has to pass "inside the uprights"
when lower than top of the post, there is no guess work.
when higher than tp of post ole says has to be "inside" the imaginary line that extends upward infinitely.

I know what the rule states, I'm saying the rule is bullshite. It's not consistent with other scoring rules

I got news for you. If the ball is below the top of the goal posts, it has to go inside as well. The rule is consistent.

Review it, why not? I mean how many kicks are like that and they review Everything else...problem is like the fumble call on field, I saw no indisputable evidence to overturn it but they did?

There is only one guy, and zero cameras, that has the proper perspective to judge that. And he said it was a miss.

I don’t understand why we don’t have camera all over the goal line and goal posts in every stadium. They are cheap and easy to install. We don’t need a freaking ref under the goal. Cameras overhead can catch holding and offsides and flag the ref if they miss it. It is bull shite AI hasn’t taken some of this away from humans.

Why not have a camera on the top of the post like a pile on camera shooting straight up so we can see where it crosses. I’d always heard that over the top of the post is good, but did hear the announcer say not true. Is it different in pros from college?

Yeah I don’t think people know why they line up like that. It’s literally so they can look straight up and see the pole and the ball. If the ball passes on their inside it’s good. If it passes on their outside it is a miss. If it passes directly over the pole it’s a miss.

Not sure about pros but really doubt it's different.

It makes sense that it's no good right over the top of the post makes since that would mean it hits the upright if it were lower.

Doesn't seem logical to call it good just because it's too high to hit the upright.

Think of the upright as if it extends to the sky. If the ball hit the upright anywhere other than the inside of the post it will deflect to where the kick is no good.

It was a chip shot that shouldn't have even been that close.

It’s 2023 and we don’t have cameras looking up the uprights at P5 stadiums.
