COVID facts from Nate Silver - which states fared better or worse?

https://www.natesilver.net/p/the-2-key-facts-about-us-covid-policy
The facts are these:
- Until vaccines became available, there was little difference in COVID death rates between blue states and red states.
- After vaccines became available, there were clear differences, with red states having higher death rates, almost certainly as a result of lower vaccine uptake among Republicans.
In other words, the vaccines made a real and obvious dent in COVID, whereas the effect of other NPIs — such as school and business closures, masks, and social distancing — is much less clear.
You can observe this by looking at state-level data.
The table below compares the number of COVID deaths per capita up through Feb. 1, 2021 with the number of deaths since then; this date represents roughly when vaccines became readily available to the most vulnerable groups.
Up through February 2021, there was little discernible pattern in whether red states or blue states
were worse affected by COVID. Since then — post-vaccines — the top of the list is dominated by red states. It’s a big difference; since Feb. 2021, the average death rate in red states is 35 percent higher than in blue states. The state with the highest COVID death rate during that period is West Virginia, which gave Donald Trump his second-largest margin of victory. The jurisdiction with the lowest COVID death rate since Feb. 2021 is Washington, D.C., which gave Joe Biden his largest winning margin. There are some exceptions to the pattern — Utah did quite well, for instance — but not many.

Does the vaccine stop you from getting COVID?
No
Does the vaccine stop you from spreading COVID?
No
Then, by definition, it’s not a vaccine.

It’s more like the flu shot. You can still get the flu, but the theory is maybe the shot will have taught your immune system to fight it better.
That’s why the flu shot (and maybe even now phenomena is available?) is encouraged for elderly people.

2nd? This should be about the 9th or 10th

Cool, definitely worth sacrificing an entire generation of school kids mental sanity and trampling over our civil rights.

So overall death rates, per capita, went up post-vaccine?
If you want a quick reference instead of looking at individual comparisons just look at how many triple-digit vs. Quad there are. But there are many specific instances of going down on the post list but the value is higher.

Alex Berenson addressed this in his Twitter feed. Made Silver look like a fool. This OP, just like Silver himself, is pure fraud.

The problem is deeper than we knew.

school kids mental sanity
This is probably the most under-talked about result of the lockdowns. The year long non-stop fear mongering and veiled social media shaming of kids who wouldn’t wear a mask screwed up a ton of school kids, especially those who were jr high-high school age.
Our politicians and media who went along with this, as well as POS celebrities, should be flogged.

When someone dies from the vaccine, how is that classified? Covid death, vaccine death, or other (blood clot, heart attack, etc)?
Posted on 10/1/23 at 8:52 am to Big_Sur
The obvious criticism will be what was defined as a covid death.
I had no problem with people taking the Vax if they wanted and big problems with it being forced.
Did they separate by race as well in those red states? You mention republicans, but I knew of several black people who refused to get the Vax.

quote:99.9% of those are actually drug overdoses, suicides, cancer, heart disease, etc. I know yall are hoping for one win as a vax death but you're about 0-223 with those supposed deaths posted on this site.

What are the diabetic demographic rates by state.

I've gotten the flu shots the last two flu seasons. CDC said it was a different strain of flu from one season to the next. However, the same shot was given for both of the strains. Nurse admitted when I asked her if the shot for last year was the same medicine I get the year before. Said it was.
I really do believe it's all bullshite.
