I ride horses a couple of times a year. The wife has been training and riding horses for awhile. Riding horses isn’t my favorite past time but I do appreciate boots when I ride. It keeps the dirt from getting into your shoes when walking. I only wear a cowboy hat when it’s sunny out since it shields your full head. But for the most part it’s boots, t shirt and baseball hat when riding horses for most I know.

Well, told my wife that I wanted a Chevy or GMC dually.
My wife said that if I buy one, she’ll make me wear boots and chaps (sometimes with arse-less)
Changed my mind. I’d look ridiculous in cowboy boots.

OP could ask the same of country bars.
Urban Cowboy did the same shite in 1983 when I was a kid, and it never really went away until after I was out of the bar/club stage of my life.

Women dress up to show up other women. It's a not so subtle competition. Concerts are an opportunity for that.

No, you're right. It is weird. I find it especially dumb when people outside of Texas wear the gear. I kinda get it in Texas since that is sorta the mecca of cowboy stuff. But people in TN or AL or GA were never cowboys. We were poor share croppers here.
