Yep, watching the live coverage and the height of the flames is impressive

Sure I am. Depends on whether or not the fence has barbed wire on it or not. Given the one mile evac order, I’m guessing no wire installed on some sections of perimeter fence.

News is saying smoke plume moving west over Garyville towards Mount Airy. It was picked up on weather radar. Two mile evacuation order. Listed two elementary and one high school that are shelter in place and asking parents to get their kids.

Sounds like a leak that ignited the dike area and got the other tank.

About halfway between BR and NO, should be a close race between Morris and the BR shysters to get people signed up. Depends on who already had typed up instructions to hand out to clients on what symptoms to tell the media and the hospitals they have.

As a precaution, air monitoring has been deployed in the community. No off-site impacts have been detected.

And now there is a 2-mile evacuation. This is why you don't say this in an initial release.

You have to feel bad for those fire fighters in bunker gear out there trying to fight this in the heat.

I listened in one day of the radio chatter on a fire fight one day at a facility I was in, and those guys get worn the hell out pretty quick in situations like this.

In a previous life, I used to assist teach firefighting courses. Bunker gear with an SCBA, full facemask and 100 degree heat is pretty unbearable. Add in actual heat from a fire, and the steam from putting water on it, it becomes 10x worse. I'd lose anywhere from 4 to 8 lbs in an 8 hour day even with staying hydrated.

You sound like you must work in the industry. Not everyone knows what an EFR is.
