Florida Panhandle vs South Florida: which region is better to vacation in?

Just curious what you all think. I’ve been to PCB, Destin, and Boca Raton. I’ve noticed that in South Florida the beaches are much more commercialized compared to the ones in the panhandle, and have more South American/Brazilian culture vibes. The Panhandle beaches tend to be more laid-back and not as commercialized

Completely different experiences.
The beaches, to me, are honestly nicer on the panhandle in places. Better water, better sand. More laidback
South Florida is as you said a totally different vibe.

If you're going with the family, panhandle.
If you want to party, South FL.
I don't have kids so I lean South FL.

This is the answer. It's like asking if Myrtle Beach and San Diego are the same place to visit...just because they both have beaches.

I never said they were the same. I was just asking which is better to visit

It's little pieces of the "Smokey" mountains.

Panhandle has nicer beaches and more family oriented. I prefer west coast

Nope. I’m guessing that’s the language you’d need to speak in Miami since 70% of the residents who live there are Hispanic/Cubans

For the beach, the answer is the Florida panhandle. I am going to Destin this weekend.
The last time I was in Miami was when the Saints were in the Super Bowl. South Beach was a gigantic party that weekend.
We went to Key West in April and had a great time. They do have a beach, but if you are looking for a beach vacation, go elsewhere. The beaches on the panhandle are much nicer, Otherwise, Key West has turned in to one of my favorite vacation destinations.

What are the best beaches on the western side of FL?

Most of the responses on this thread tend to think South Florida beaches are just Miami. It’s not.
On the west side of South Florida there is Ft Myers Beach, Naples Beach, and Marco Island. None of these are anything like Miami. The beaches here are great. The water is much warmer throughout the year compared to the pan handle and not as touristy. I still give the edge to the pan handle on beach alone but it’s close

I went to Ft Myers last year right before the hurricane, zero waves, it was like being at a lake. The whole week. I need waves on my beach.

Places like Naples are basically resort cities. They have super high-end shopping centers which are extremely clean with European-style architecture. It’s where all of the materialistic rich New Yorkers vacation to blow money on designer clothes and luxury beach houses

I would go north and include Siesta Key, Longboat Key and Anna Maria Island. I haven't been to Clearwater/St Pete since I was a kid (1970s) so can't say how they are....

Hmmm
Pretentious New Yorkers or pretentious southerners?
And for the high strung, relax, it’s a joke.

This is not what the OP was about
The panhandle has the best beaches I have ever been to and it’s not particularly close. That’s looking at it from a purely physical perspective, nothing to do with vibe. I’ve been to plenty that had better views, but from a perspective of the sand, the water (temp, color and surf), access…it’s really hard to beat.

Singer Island in south FL has very family oriented beaches.

This is the correct answer.
If I dropped you on the beach in Anna Marie, you would think you're in Destin.

Anna Marie Island, Siesta Key, Manastoa Key, Boca Grande, Little Gasparilla Island, Palm Island, Don Pedro Island, Marco Island, Bonita Springs, Naples. Anywhere South of Tampa and North of Naples will do just fine.
