General purpose answer is nosler partitions for me. Hard to find and very expensive though. I've been shooting norma oryx the past few seasons and I like them alot.
Next will be speer grand slam since I found a lot of them for cheap.
Least favorite is hornady SST. Very fragile bullet.

Winchester Super X and Hornaday American Whitetail are my favorites. Both easy to find, cheap enough and plenty accurate/reliable for me across multiple calibers
I bought a few boxes of Norma Whitetail Soft Point last year and my initial impressions with those are positive as well.

I've switched to Nosler Accubond in most of my rifles the last few seasons. I like them.

Accubonds if I can find them.

Not really sure if they’re my favorite yet, but I killed two deer last year with Winchester XP in 270. They shoot fan double tastic in my rifle.
Never thought I’d use a tipped bullet like that, but another member of the club has shot plenty with them in the same caliber and got good results with good exits.

Whitetail and pigs - Hornady American Whitetail aka Interlock (my favorite true cup and core bullet)
Bigger than whitetail - Nosler Partition (the unrivaled GOAT) or because they are easier to find I’ll shoot Norma Oryx out of my 308 and it’s a stone cold killer for most anything in North America.
Primitive - I shoot Accubonds out of my .35 Whelen and it’s Thors hammer at 225 grains

Hornady BTSP for me. Perfect record so far for the 140 in my 270, and 162 in my 280AI. The one I shot with the AI I shot a doe facing me in the neck. Bullet followed her spine and ended up ruining the first 6 or 8 inches of backstrap. Found the jacket in the spine. I have some 180 accubonds for my '06 because I happened to trade into 100 of them. If I didn't have those I'd get a Hornady Interlock for it too.

I picture you in woods wearing jeans and buffalo plaid.

I use these in all my rifles. From deer to Elk, they do the job.
I’ve personally dropped more in their tracks of each than all other rounds combined. A great round.

Norma Oryx 150 grain in 308
Barnes TTSX 70 grain in 556
Barnes Tac-TX 110 grain in 300 blk
SMK 220 grain in 300 blk for silent pig head shots at night
Just depends what I’m hunting

Barnes TSX #1. Barnes TTSX #2

Sierra Game King “SGK” - cheap, reliable, accurate, precise, and effective
In 20 years I never lost a deer or hog.
That doesn’t mean that bullet is the best for all applications. For 223 hog hunting for example I like Barnes TTSX. For short range big fat slow bullet hunting I like Barnes XBP hollow points. Magnum high velocity loads on large animals is the domain of the Nosler Accubond.

Discontinued but my favorite pig load uses the sierra 110 grain pro hunter. I'll be using them for the foreseeable future.

Fusions are great and like mini bombs, my son killed 220 pound deer with a .243 with ease. But you have to hit bone, since they are Teflon coated or whatever it is, on a perfect heart shot you may not find blood for 100s of yards. I killed two deer one back to back and I had to find the next day and neither of them left a drop of blood until I was almost right on the deer. The deer I found the next day was only 100 yards off the field and I thought i heard it fall but since no blood u always have some doubt. I ask back at camp and everyone had a similar story with fusions.
So with fusion do a double shoulder shot. (I think my son aimed at heart shot but he had slight flinch which always caused it to be neck shot. He killed a moving deer with a neck shot at a super weird angle almost 200 yards away through heavy brush once, so the old timers told me to leave him alone as none of use would have even tried that.
If you are turkey hunting and not using TSS shell you are really really missing out
