.how is modern good causing the rates of austim in the amish community to rise?
It's not, you tard. That's the point.
Due to the rising Autism rates in Non-Amish kids, a study was done on the Autism rates in Amish kids. The results were:

Results:
From September 2008 to October 2009, 1899 Amish children were screened in the two Amish communities. A total of 25 children screened positive for ASD on either the SCQ or the DSM-IV-TR checklist. A total of 14 screened positive for ASD on both screeners. Of those 25 children, 14 were evaluated and seven children were confirmed as having a diagnosis of ASD using the ADI and/or ADOS, and clinical judgment. Interestingly, four of the seven only met ASD criteria on the ADOS but not the ADI.
Preliminary data have identified the presence of ASD in the Amish community at a rate of approximately 1 in 271 children using standard ASD screening and diagnostic tools.
Compared to 1 in 91 in non-Amish kids at that same period of time.
But I understand that reading is hard. Maybe you should stick to travel ball.

My genuine question is: What is it about our modern lifestyle that is causing the rates of autism to increase so rapidly?
I have a family member who was diagnosed with Autism....by some doctors. Some doctors said he did not have Autism and has ADHD. Some just said he is a quirky kid but he doesn't have Autism or ADHD. This isn't an exact science. Doctors contradict each other and are making their best guesses.
This family member is graduating this December from a prominent state university in the Southeast. It isn't Harvard but it is a really good school. He has interned with a global company last summer & this summer and has a 72K base salary job waiting for him in January after he graduates. His mom registered his Autism diagnosis with his high school & university so he got extra time on the SAT, tests and assignments.
I think a lot of the rise in Autism #s are cases like this which may not be accurate by any means.

Because the Amish are family oriented with strong religious beliefs, work hard, and have discipline.
These values lead to healthy kids both mentally and physically
And I think Big Pharma pushes a lot of this crap so they can over medicate kids for profit. Some kids are reserved and shy/socially awkward. Some are hyper and inattentive. Doesn’t mean all are autistic or all are ADD. They are likely being way too loose on the diagnosis

Doctors know they’re not getting the Amish kids hooked on meds so why give them some bullshite diagnosis. White kids, on the other hand, are way over diagnosed because mom will want them medicated.

Vaccines could play a role... especially the accelerated schedule in which we give vaccines to kids. Some vaccines are pretty irrelevant depending on age and gender as well. Vaccines are good, don't get me wrong, but from what I've read, we are possibly over vaccinating ourselves and vaccines do carry the risk of autism.
I’m in agreement with this, they recently discovered a link between the onset of narcolepsy with the flu vaccine. Lee in mind that it’s an incredibly small sample set but researchers have long postulated that narcolepsy is typically tied an autoimmune event in susceptible individuals that basically burns out the brain cells that produce wakefulness promoting chemicals.

Side question: did people in the past die of the same things (primarily cancer) at the rate or at all of the people today? In other words, was cancer(s) around back then but didn't have the ability to diagnose or is that a new disease of our day?

They used the same definition against the Amish and in 2010, you were three times more likely to be autistic if not Amish.
Yet, fundamentally, they aren't using the same definition.
Say you have a process for identifying structurally unsound bricks in a factory; there are 16 characteristics that trigger a brick to be entered into your quality control process, to determine if its bad or not.
One Quality Control reviewer knows the 16 standards inside and out; a second Quality Control reviewer refers on the basis of the 4 most obvious flaws.
There's not going to be an identical rate of returned bricks, despite the 'shared definition' of what a unsound brick is. One person doesn't miss a thing, the other lets a ton of flawed bricks through the process. Same with Amish-initiated screening.

Ephram who never married, works on the farm and never says more than one or two words to anybody is just eccentric.
Eddie who grew up in the suburbs gets screened by the pediatrician at an early age and gets an autism diagnosis.

My guess would be the chemical shite they're putting in our food.
Do the Amish still grow and can their own? You are what you eat.

Vaccines do cause autism?
Um......nope.
And yes, I graduated from an actual med school

Tons of factors that many others may have not considered like drug use in utero. Also genetics, Amish people tend to stick within their own community, everyday person gets married to someone with recessive gene of some sort then have a baby with autism. There’s a lot of different factors we may never know.

Autism isn’t a learning or cognitive disorder, it’s a social disorder. While there certainly are ASD kids with cognitive disorders, there are also kids on the spectrum that are highly intelligent (colloquially referred to as twice exceptional).

Can you tell us which medications are being pushed on autistic children?
