Was coming to post about the drafting of seniors. They can basically offer pennies on the dollar to these players. As long as they sign, the team keeps the money. Wouldn’t be surprised to see someone like Johnson drafted to start the eleventh. Nationals have a lot of money to play with now

Wait until the clock strikes 12. We have been down this road too many times before.

You have to wait until after round 15. Teams will draft HS kids in rounds 11-15 that they will try to sign with savings from rds 1-10. Kids drafted in rds 11-15 still sign at a 93% rate.

Do not get excited. Just stop please stop. A team will circle back around and most kids don't stay firm to their number

I’m assuming this statistic is primarily years without NIL factored in though, right?

They’re saving money right now picking college kids on the cheap so they can offer a high school later on with bonus money.
Cam is going to get drafted and offered a million +
It’s all about if he sticks with the large number that pushed him down this road, or just accepts the offer.
Only an opinion I could be wrong and some else has a better one

Why not just draft him in the slot that pays him a million plus. Why play games with the seniors? Don't they risk losing the rights to him to someone else? They can draft the seniors later.

It’s for the two years of the 20 round draft - 2021 and 2022

I'm just making up numbers here, but I'm just using an example to try to help you understand.
Cam Johnson - I will sign for 3.5 mill. If not I'm going to college.
MLB team - we would like to take you in round X, and the slot value there is 1.5 mill. Would you take 1.5 mil?
Cam Johnson - no
MLB team is now not going to risk drafting a player early that they don't feel is worth as much as they are asking. So they draft another prospect that agrees to sign.
MLB team grabs some seniors, with no leverage and save up some money. Mlb team now comes in rounds 11-20 and draft Cam Johnson. At that spot they can draft someone who likely doesn't snif the mlb ever, or get a legit prospect in round 14. They go back to negotiating, and hope that Cam lowers his cost, or you have saved up enough in earlier rounds to meet him closer to what he wants.

The majority of players taken Rd11-20 will be college players.
The overwhelming majority will not make over $125-150k
Less than 1% of the players remaining will get $1mil

We saw what 99 did from the left side for Florida in the last game. 99 means nothing if you can’t control it. Hopefully CJ will have better control than JC showed because that will lose more games than it will win.

Yeah let’s compare him to one game by a different pitcher.
I’ll be happy if he’s a weekend starter as a freshman

JC the Golden Spikes finalist?
I’ll take that.

He was a sophomore, and he wasn’t a Golden Spiked finalist because he was Florida’s #3 starter.
I don’t think Cam Johnson will hit 31 home runs for us.

Mac Marshall made it hard for me to ever feel comfortable about a player making it to campus. I still get excited, though.
I know the vast majority here remember what happened with Marshall, but in case anyone is new to this, he was one that got drafted late, said he was coming to campus, showed up for a brief time, if I remember correctly, and then decided to leave the program and go to junior college so that he could re-enter the draft the following year.
That's my "worry" at this point. I just hope the kid actually wants to come to LSU if he doesn't get his number, and doesn't go to a junior college.

Yeah you can, until next year when he walks a batter or 2. Then we as “fans” can shite all over him.
