And howd that work out for him. Maybe he shouldn't have tried to rush the process and just went to college to develop because he didnt do crap in pro ball and his signing bonus was the only money he made off baseball.

You have to wait until after round 15. Teams will draft HS kids in rounds 11-15 that they will try to sign with savings from rds 1-10. Kids drafted in rds 11-15 still sign at a 93% rate.

They are still mostly drafting high school kids with lower draft grades they feel confident they can sign in those rounds. They take the flyers after that.

They’re saving money right now picking college kids on the cheap so they can offer a high school later on with bonus money.

86% of the players taken in rounds 5-20 last year were college kids.

And that has been the general trend since they switched the draft format.

There will be a few kids that get Rd 2 money & a few kids that get rd 4-5 money. And that’s it

Everyone else will get $125-150k

That article is pretty telling. Doubt they would write that without some inside information.

Said he was coming but that’s just conjecture. Johnson looked like a top 30 pick to them though which is insane to make it to a college campus:

No, he could also go JUCO.

IMG actually does a post grad program that is probably much more enticing than JUCO. Brady Aiken attended it after he didn’t sign his 1.1 deal with the Astros.

The remaining pool for teams saving up for day 3 is only about 1M - 1.5M. That’s not enough to persuade Johnson to sign. High probability he is coming to LSU.

Now I do expect him to get drafted as insurance in the later rounds tomorrow. Teams do this in case their first round pick fails a physical (e.g. Kumar Rocker). Just fair warning.

At this point, he’d be better off coming to LSU and becoming a top 15 pick in a couple years.

Ok I worded it a bit incorrect to be exact but here a the rules basically saying the same thing I stated but in other words:

“Players who have graduated high school but not attended college are eligible for the draft, as are those who have completed at least one year of junior college. Players attending four-year colleges are eligible to be drafted upon completing their junior year or turning 21 years old.”

This is why Tommy White is returning. He was a sophomore this season. What is you don’t understand about the rules? Read the link I sent or go to MLB.com to read for yourself

Slow learners need a better description. So there it is but it’s not difficult to understand for most with sense.

Or the fact you ignored that a guy is draft eligible as a sophomore if he’s 21 in your argument. Kind of a big deal but I expect nothing less from you.
