Reminder of exactly what the signers and founders of this nation were putting on the line.

As I go through my yearly Independence Day watching of ‘John Adams’ on HBO, excellent miniseries might I add, I’m reminded of the weight that the men that signed the Declaration of Independence must have felt. What absolute intestinal fortitude those men had! And it came at no little cost, either.
The fact that those men, many very young, were so brilliant and so courageous to know and act on the fact that men are free by nature, and were willing to sign their names on the dotted line in the biggest middle finger in world history moves me. Thomas Jefferson, especially, understood liberty moreso than any man I can think of.
Where are our Jeffersons? Where are our Washingtons? Where are our Adams? Where are our Hancocks? Those men knew what it meant to sign their name and signed regardless. Where are our torch-bearers of liberty in this day and age!
I thank almighty God that my ancestors saw fit to not only brave the seas to come to this nation in the early 1700s, but to aid in its liberation from tyranny in those days at Cowpens and King’s Mountain.
We need more men like those.

Apparently only rich white men were free by nature though

Joe Biden is good at taking bribes from foreign countries.

And it makes me sad that we are where we are today. People depending on a government check, poverty, no shits given about the average hard working American. All about the vote to keep corrupt assholes in power who could give two shits about people only lining their own pockets. It’s a travesty and makes me sad what my ancestors did in previous wars as I’m sure many of yours did. If those guys saw what was going on today they would probably cry and wonder what in the world happened. Cause I do everyday

The gulag in DC with no end in sight after January 6th.
But seriously the focus has been taken off of what’s best for our country and become about what’s best for each person. I bet if you asked young people today what they’d be willing to sacrifice for America, less than 25% would say their lives.

Benjamin Tallmadge, Robert Townsend, James Rivington, Austin Roe, Abraham Woodhull and a lady known only as 355.
These patriots and unsung hero’s was Washington’s spies known as the Culper Ring. These bravest of the patriots did more to win independence than they get credit for.
The Culper Ring risked their lives everyday to give Washington the vital information needed to defeat the British and the loyalists. They basically uncovered the plot Benedict Arnold had planned to give up West Point to the British.

Nothing compared to what the warriors of antifa face when fighting fascism in Portland

They certainly aren't our political leaders. They aren't the big business leaders you hear speak either. Our media and our politicians along with our Twitterverse seem to keep everyone silent now.

Let’s not get too maudlin Hollywood style and just keep in mind you likely wouldn’t have been on the land patent list to begin with.

This. We have gone way, way too far expecting every past great man to be perfect. Part of what makes these events and the people who partook in them great is because humans are inherently flawed.

Well. We're already free. You can't fight for freedom when you already have it.

Unfortunately, we are not the same country anymore. I fear the United State of America is on that same path as the Romans.
