Sam Kinison has never done anything funny.

I’ll tell you one who is funny, Mark Normand.

Hilarious human being and podcaster, sub-par stand up material
He just laughs hysterically at himself all the time.

I think Rogan is a bad standup comic.
His best attribute is that he is a genuinely nice guy who gives his friends opportunities to succeed.
Mark Normand is one of the best guys coming up through the Rogan pipeline. Segura is also very good but had made a name for himself beforehand.
The early 2000s had some really bad comics. Dane Cook, DL Hughley, Larry the Cable Guy, etc. Dat Phan was hated by comics but he was a terrible choice to win Last Comic Standing.
Jim Breur’s current stuff is unwatchable as it’s just him making noises and spazzing out to get approving laughter from his new audience.

I don’t think I’ve watched any of normand’s stand up but every other comic raves about him and how quickly he churns out new material

I’m not a fan of when comics rely on crowd work nonstop to fill up time.
Matt Rife and Stavros are the most overt in their use of crowd work, especially to make easy jokes at the expense of the audience.
Normand doesn’t do as much crowd work and when he does, he at least goes in a different direction than those guys.
ETA: he really is at his best on those morning shows though

But his crowd work isn’t just decent, it’s the best I’ve seen aside from Don Rickles
Blasphemy.
Please link something from Rife that isn’t just flirting with middle aged women in the crowd.

Man I did not expect to see Chappell mentioned.

I’ve seen some decent clips from him but calling him the best since don rickles is fricking insane
Guy doesn’t even have a special yet, he’s a touring comic that goes viral on tik tok pretty often. Doesn’t really make sense to discuss him in this thread either way tbh

Who the hell did you find funny if you didn’t think Chapelle was funny?

Guessing he's a big fan of Wayne Brady.

Brady’s skit on the Chapelle Show is still one of the funniest fricking things I have ever seen, and it only works because of the clean image Brady had cultivated for years prior.
Say what you will about Brady, he definitely didn’t mind joking about his own image. Not everyone is comfortable with that.
