No one is banning ozempic or wegovy! They are stopping weight loss clinics and pharmacies that work with them from buying massive amounts of an unapproved ingredient similar to the one in Ozempic and selling syringes of it at weight loss clinics. They are breaking multiple pharmacy laws regarding compounding and are brazenly violating US patent laws.

The compounding laws are in place for protection of the public, not to protect manufacture profits although that is an outcome that happens. If there wasn't some sort of legal structure, people could basically sell snake oil under guise of a more affordable form of a commercially available product.

Patent laws are different. Anyone who knows Pharmacy law knows that they don't even have to use the 503 compounding rules to make the weight loss clinic stop. They are in clear violation of the patent law anyway.

I need to have my insulin sensitivity reset because I have a very efficient metabolism (my body grabs on to every last calorie and saves it just in case I get stranded in the woods for a week with no provisions.) We can't all be online stuck to our phones all the time and still at HS weight 28 years later. Today I ate 250 calories total so far. 1/3 of a can of black beans with a tbsp of sour cream and a splash of cholula for breakfast. It's after 5pm. I'm not losing any meaningful weight on calorie restriction alone. Anyway, I don't need to justify my reasons for wanting to take semaglutide to anyone except my doctor.

You should go to a lab and let them study you. You could save millions of lives in Africa.

In all seriousness, you have a drug that’s been shown to counteract a huge problem in this country caused by processed, sugary, high carbohydrate foods that are EBT staples and the governments here and in Canada are fighting against it

Its not going to fix any issues. People want the magic pill, they'll adjust to the drug and blow up all over again.

Going after docs for prescribing a weight loss medication to help people lose weight?

LABoP is a very strict enforcement Board they will definitely squash any compounding with the semaglutide sodium salt. They will take separate action on the pharmacy and the pharmacists and will publish it in their legislative newsletter. Whatever profit they made the LA board will destroy with fines.

Obese people dislike the truth. I'm sure there are rare cases of people who can't lose weight, but the magic pill just delays the inevitable.

Good thread. This is why I like the O-T.

I had no idea the compounding only began because of a shortage.

Sounds like the clinics took advantage of the situation.

When does the patent run out?

im all for the use of the medicine but i hope this shite is sarcasm. you are fat cause you eat too much. all these drugs do is make you not eat so much, has no effect on metabolism.

great drugs, tons of health benifits outside of the weight loss but they only work cause they make you eat less

i personally wouldnt take them cause i like to be able to leave my house without the constant feeling of "im about to shite myself" plus i enjoy having the ability to trust a fart......but if people want to use them to get healthier all for it.

but lets not make it to be something its not or that the same things cant be achieved through old fashion hard work

as far as the ban....fricking stupid. why the frick is this anythign the state gov should be involved in or even looking at? how is this not a decision between patient and doctor? how does this effect others at all? there isnt some huge shortage like many dumb fricks like to claim.

this is either protecting Big pharma or big insurance, one of the two. frick our state man, all the things wrong here and this is where they chose to focus?? wtf

ETA: if its just banning of the compounding...im ok with that. the phrama companies that spend billions on R&D should hold the right until the patent is up. just go to peptide science if you want off label

people talking about not eating fast food, junk food, soda, etc. always make me laugh. i eat fast food and drink beer way too often and i'm not fat at all. i had popeyes for dinner and the meal was probably 1k calories and that easily fit in my "maintenance" intake or whatever people call it.

not consuming that stuff is great but doesn't mean much when you're basically sedentary and crushing pounds of potatoes, glasses of milk, bread, etc. every day.

The prescribing physicians and clinics are opening themselves up for litigation as well not only for patent law but potentially criminal laws if these compounds harm patients. They are all on a very slippery slope while trying to cash in as fast as they can.

Not to mention the origins of some of the compounding since it’s unclear where they are being sourced from. They could easily be fentanyl laced.
